Description

 

Position:   Bus Driver

Reports To:   Transportation Coordinator

Length of Contract:  Part Time, 12 Months

Evaluation:   Annually by school policy, Ongoing by Administration


Position Goal:   

This employee must have a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ to enable them to develop godly relationships with passengers as they provide safe travel.


Qualifications:

  • CDL License in good standing
  • Airbrake and Passenger Endorsements
  • High School diploma/GED equivalent
  • Clean driving record
  • Experience working with children preferred
  • Working knowledge of first aid procedures  

Responsibilities:

Professional

  • Drive safely along designated routes
  • Obey traffic laws, safety procedures, and transit regulations
  • Pick up and drop off passengers at designated locations only
  • Follow a specific timetable while on duty
  • Assist passengers with on and off boarding as needed
  • Provide Christ-like discipline according to school expectations for unacceptable behavior
  • Assist passengers with emergency evacuations
  • Be attentive to weather and traffic conditions to ensure passenger safety
  • Monitor the number of passengers as directed by the Transportation Coordinator
  • Maintain a clean vehicle
  • Annual CDL physical completed by physician
  • Assist with the fueling and basic servicing of the fleet, as directed by the Transportation Coordinator.
  • Maintain usage records on each vehicle in the fleet, as directed by the Transportation Coordinator.

Communication

  • Frequently inspect tires, lights, brakes, turn signals, gas, and oil and discuss needs with Transportation Coordinator
  • Make record and update Transportation Coordinator with any behavioral issues and the intervention strategies implemented
  • Should any delays or en-route issues arise, contact the Transportation Coordinator as soon as possible
  • Maintain passenger attendance lists as required by Transportation Coordinator
