Description

Summary of Position: The Elementary Vocal Music Teacher shall be committed to living a biblical lifestyle and called by God to serve  at Vacaville Christian Schools. The primary responsibility of the Vocal Music Teacher is teaching vocal music to students K- 5th grade.  The teacher is given a schedule each year that includes meeting with each class for a 30 minute period each week.  The vocal music teacher also assists in planning chapels and leads the worship during the weekly elementary chapels. The teacher plans and prepares students for the annual music programs as well.

Hours of Work: Part time,  Monday – Friday as scheduled / School Year

Reporting Relationship: Elementary Principal


Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy throughout daily interactions with students, faculty and  parents. Comply with the Statement of Faith, the Christian Role Model Expectations, and the VCS Employee Handbook and be committed to upholding them. 
  • Daily teaching students
  • Turn in weekly lesson plans that align with the year overview
  • Plan and prepare for the various grade level music programs, working with teachers, and parents to successfully prepare students.
  • Be responsible for the daily organization and cleanliness of the classroom
  • Complete progress reports and report cards electronically each quarter in Powerschool for each student.
  • Run the after school elementary choir program
  • Complete needed courses or training to obtain and keep an ACSI teachers certificate
  • Maintain proper classroom management
  • Follow school procedures and policies that are set by the Employer. 
  • Demonstrate and commit to excellent communication with students, parents and faculty to maintain the VCS  standard of excellence in all areas of performance. 
  • Proficiency in technology resources and application, knowledge of the operations of all school machines such as  copier, laminating, etc. that are necessary for the completion of the job. 
  • Must be able to deal with confidential information in a professional manner. 
  • Assist students in safety protocol in the event of emergency drills or actual emergency 
  • Complete proper forms per VCS policy, i.e. tallies/demerits, illness report, ouch report, administrative referrals, etc. 
  • Participate in orientations, scheduled in-services, and all departmental meetings.  
  • Physically able to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 25 lbs.

  • Affirms that, as part of the qualifications for this position, he/she is a follower of Jesus who knows the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior. 
  • Ability to follow the Matthew 18 Principle in dealing with leadership, faculty, administration, and parents. 
  • Regular attendance in a Bible-based church.

Requirements/Qualifications 

  • High School Diploma
  • Experience working with children
  • Some music education, music degree prefered
