Program Director- School Based
Description

POSITION: The Program Coordinator is responsible for the delivery of a broad range of programs and activities; which encompass the incorporation of character development, age appropriate and gender-specific programs and activities; while ensuring that cultural diversity educational programs are implemented; including assisting in the planning, implementation, and delivery of exciting and engaging educational activities, and programs for youth ages 6 to 18.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

LEADERSHIP

Manage the administration of designated programs and activities that support Youth Development Outcomes.

Ensure that program objectives are consistent with organizational goals and mission.

Manage program activities at  in accordance with established standards and goals for Boys and Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida.

Coordinate extracurricular activities as outlined in program objectives.

Ensure members are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas/activities.

Inspire and motivate members and initiate innovation and creativity.

Recognize problem areas and assist in achieving understanding and success in areas.

Demonstrate leadership to assure a health and safe environment, and those facilities, equipment and supplies are maintained.

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT and IMPLEMENTATION

Maintain program goals and report results that insure the health and safety of members.

Document the evaluation of programs on a continual basis and ensures programs/activities respond to member needs and address their gender and cultural diversity.

Assist in ensuring that program and activity expenditures are within approved budget.

Compile regular reports reflecting all activities, attendance and participation.

PREPARE YOUTH FOR SUCCESS

Ensure programs, services and activities prepare youth for success, promoting safety of members, quality in programs and appearance of Club at all times.  Provide guidance and role modeling to members. 

Contribute to the planning and implementation of the strategic plan by:

Planning and organizing a range of program services and activities for members, such as field trips, program specific activities, guest speakers, field trips, etc.

Welcoming new members and participate in their orientation process.

Initiating new programs with the approval of the Unit Director.

Promoting and stimulating program participation. 

MARKETING & PUBLIC RELATIONS

Develop partnerships with parents, families, schools and other Clubs to identify ways to increase Program membership and participation.

Maintain public relations age-appropriate marketing materials for Programs.

Coordinate with Unit Director implementing local high schools to visit to promote Club Programs and special events.

Assist in the dissemination of timely information for the development of advertising and promotion through mailings and flyers.

Increase visibility of programs via posting of daily schedule and dissemination of timely information.

RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

Contribute to the effective recruitment of youths, age 6 to 18.

Ensure all areas are properly cleaned and club equipment is maintained in good working condition.

PARTNERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

Maintain daily contact with members to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions. 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

May oversee special programs and/or events (i.e. Keystone, Youth of the Year and Awards and Programs) and/or participate in the implementation of other Club activities as necessary.

May be required to drive Club van periodically.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule.

May consult with parents concerning member issues.

Any additional responsibilities that may be assigned by Unit Director



Requirements

Education

  Associates Degree required

Experience

 Minimum of two to three years of experience working with youth ages 6 to 18, in a variety of capacities.

 Experience working with schools and community groups a plus.
