The Special Event Coordinator for the West Valley City Parks & Recreation Department is a full-time position that will devise and run various events and coordinate all aspects of department events, including events at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center and West Valley Family Fitness Center. These include the Wasatch International Food Festival, Day of the Dead Celebration, etc. The successful candidate will be responsible for every part of event preparation, such as choosing venues, approving menus, developing seating plans, evaluating success, and should be well-organized and possess a sound knowledge of vendor management. In addition, the candidate is responsible for vendor recruitment, entertainment booking, arranging event services, infrastructure, security, and other logistical needs. Excellent communication and attention to detail skills are vital in this role, as our success depends on meeting each event’s tailored requirements.
Schedule: Full-Time 40-hours per week

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Volunteers and event staff
Must be proficient in PC platform, Microsoft Office, Word, Outlook, Excel. Must be available for evenings and weekends, and to adhere to a flexible schedule. Must be able run errands and assist with set up needs for events.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Hospitality & Tourism Management, Parks & Recreation Management, or an equivalent amount of experience in event coordination and management.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a city vehicle.
Must be able to obtain a Utah On-Premise Alcoholic Beverage Seller/Server Certification.
Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) certification preferred.
Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred.
