Basic Functions:  

The CCT Manager at NORCAL Ambulance is the operational leader of the Critical Care Transport program, responsible for daily program operations, crew supervision, hospital partner relationship management, and operational execution of specialty clinical programs. Responsibilities include direct supervision of CCT Supervisors and field personnel, complaint investigation and follow up, staffing and scheduling oversight, equipment readiness, and coordination across departments to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable service delivery aligned with clinical program standards set by Clinical Services. 

Responsibilities: 

1. Serve as an active role model, demonstrating professionalism, accountability, and a commitment to exceptional patient and customer service both internal and external.

2. Oversee daily operations of the Critical Care Transport program to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable service delivery.

3. Monitor staffing levels, scheduling needs, and unit availability, collaborating with Scheduling, Dispatch, and Operations leadership to address coverage challenges.

4. Monitor operational performance metrics, including unit utilization, response times, holdovers, turnaround times, and delays, and implement improvement strategies.

5. Provide direct oversight and support to CCT Supervisors, Lead RNs, FTOs, and field personnel.

6. Establish clear expectations for employee performance and accountability, ensuring compliance with company policies, operational standards, safety requirements, and infection prevention practices.

7. Conduct employee coaching, annual evaluations, and disciplinary actions for CCT staff in accordance with company policy and in coordination with HR and the Director of Clinical Services.

8. Ensure operational readiness of all CCT equipment and supplies through compliance with Operative IQ checkouts, routine inspections, and appropriate inventory management.

9. Coordinate with Fleet, Biomedical Services, Supply, and other support departments to address equipment, vehicle, and supply concerns.

10. Participate in on-call and escalation processes as required.

11. Monitor staffing utilization and associated labor costs, including overtime and double-time trends, and implement strategies to promote efficient scheduling and fiscal responsibility.

12. Partner with Clinical Services Director in the implementation of new and existing clinical programs. Responsible for operational execution, including employee readiness, equipment needs, training compliance, and consistent application of clinical standards and policies.

13. Partner with the Training Department and Quality Assurance on staff development, case reviews, and investigation of operational and clinical concerns.

14. Conduct regular CCT staff meetings with a written agenda shared in advance, named action items, and follow-up commitments.

15. Lead or participate in assigned projects, ensuring completion within established timelines and organizational goals.

16. Perform other related duties as assigned.

17. Ensure CCT related hospital partner concerns are promptly investigated, documented, and resolved through appropriate employee accountability and operational improvement, with timely escalation and communication to Operations leadership as needed.

18. Establish and enforce expectations for professional communication and adherence to the chain of command, ensuring operational concerns are communicated through appropriate supervisory and leadership channels.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); completion of a nursing program to obtain a Bachelor of Science (BS) in nursing preferred. Minimum three or more (3+) years’ experience working as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the critical care field, which can be any combination of Emergency Room (ER), Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and/or Cardiac Catheterization Lab. 

Language Ability:  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions  furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several  concrete variables in standardized situations. 

Certifications/Licenses: Current California Registered Nurse Card, ACLS Card (Advanced  Cardiac Life Support Certification), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) Certification, CPR  (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) Certification, California Driver’s License, and National  Nursing Board Certifications (TNCC, CCRN, TCRN) 

Equipment:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must use a variety of equipment including gurney, wheelchairs, and other medical and ambulance related devices.? Additionally, this position will require the usage of computers, computer software, telephones and other means of electronic communication.
