Position Description:

BlueWave has an immediate opening for a Director of Site Acquisition reporting to the Managing Director of Project Development. This role is responsible for the growth of our solar development portfolio of high-quality sites located in various markets throughout the United States. 

We Seek an individual with renewable energy experience and with some exposure to utility infrastructure. They must be highly organized, have attention to detail, have strong communication skills, and have the ability to manage a team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and delegate to a team of site analysts and research associates. Some team members may be in remote office locations;
  • Develop Lease Option Agreements (LOA) and present to landowners or relevant stakeholders;
  • Manage landowner and land scout relationships;
  • Complete, submit and track utility applications;
  • Manage outside consultants including electrical engineers, attorneys, engineers to name a few;
  • Understand property title reports;
  • Understand GIS data acquisition and GIS analyses using Arc GIS or similar programs to originate and vet qualifications for solar farm site development opportunities;
  • Develop strategies to utilize GIS to improve current land acquisition strategies;
  • Develop and maintain an internal system for GIS data organization and file structuring;
  • Research local zoning bylaws and interact with municipal authorities having jurisdiction;
  • Manage relationships with landowners and facilitate the negotiation of business terms for prospective PV development opportunities both via email/phone and in-person;
  • Conduct fatal flaw on-site assessments of prospective PV development opportunities;
  • Manage pipeline of PV development prospects in BlueWave’s CRM platform: Salesforce;
  • Implement and execute strategy for acquisition and new market expansion;
  • Other duties for which the candidate is qualified.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Studies, Geography, Real Estate, Urban Planning, or related field;
  • Experience using Arc GIS or similar programs in a professional environment;
  • 2-4 years previous experience working in a related discipline (environmental consulting, engineering, real estate development or investment, urban planning or renewable energy project development);
  • Valid Driver’s License.
