Position Overview:

The ideal intern should be an organized strong multi-tasker, has good communication skills, who is self-motivated with great customer service skills. A strong candidate will have the ability to function in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

The Success Intern will learn how to build strong relationships with young people and the many different resources available to them in the Philadelphia area. The Success Intern will gain knowledge in barrier reduction, Student Engagement, Career Development, Mental Health including hands-on experience to work with students individually and as a group. Intern will work closely with an experienced Success Coordinator to assist in providing the best possible services to our students.


Essential Functions:

  • Assist with managing a caseload of 10 students;
  • Assist in the interdisciplinary GPS team, monitoring interventions (behavioral, academic, and social) and communicating student's’ status to appropriate staff.
  • Monitor attendance and provide outreach to students missing school days.
  • Maintain accurate notes and communicate updates to appropriate staff.
  • Assist in creating Professional Development training for Alumni
  • Attend department, all-staff, GPS, and other meetings, as required by the Supervising Success Coordinator and/or Director of Student and Alumni Success.


Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in a 4 year degree program in Social Work or Psychology
  • Proven success working with a team in a professional environment
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of staff
  • Creativity in developing strategies that lead to students’ success;
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, highly flexible work—often highly intense—work environment;
  • The selected candidate must be able to provide the hiring team with all background clearances and testing results required and provided at the time of the offer. All certifications and results should be sent prior to the stipulated start date in order to proceed.
  • The selected intern will be reimbursed for all clearance and testing expenses required by the YouthBuild Philadelphia Charter School upon the start of the internship once all receipts are given to the HR Department and these have been processed accordingly.

  • PATCH - Pennsylvania Police Department - Criminal Background Check (and/or applicable based on State of residency)
  • PA Child Abuse History Clearance
  • TB Test Results
  • Act 24 - Arrest Conviction Form
  • NSOPW - National Sex Offender Clearance
  • Act 168 - Sexual Misconduct Form
