Wiring Technician - 2nd Shift

Position Summary: Simplex is currently accepting applications for 2nd shift positions with scheduled hours of 3:15 PM – 11:45 PM. This position is designated as a second shift role and includes a second-shift differential. Candidates will begin employment with a training period on 1st shift to complete onboarding and job-specific training. After training is completed, the employee will transition to the assigned 2nd shift schedule. Candidates must be able to work the designated 2nd shift hours on a regular basis following the training period. The length of the training period may vary based on operational needs and the employee’s progress. This position offers the opportunity to join a growing manufacturing team in a stable production environment. 


Key Responsibilities:

  

  • Installs wire according to wiring strapping diagrams.
  • Able to use and read a tape measure.
  • Uses hand tools, crimpers, soldering irons, wire strippers, and other hand and power tools.
  • Reads wiring diagrams, blueprints, wire routing, and engineering specifications to determine lengths, types, routing, and gauge of wiring and cables to be installed.
  • Selects specified wires and cables, routes according to instructions, and fastens connections by bolting, screwing, soldering, or plugging, using wrenches, screwdrivers, soldering iron, and plugging gun.
  • Wires, installs terminals, and marks wires.
  • May stand or sit for extended periods of time.

Requirements
  • Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills required.
  • Good communications skills relative to supervisor and other related departments.
  • Ability to lift 30-50 pounds. More with help.
  • Physical ability to work in awkward positions such as kneeling, bending, and overhead for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb and work from a step ladder.
  • Ability to operate various shop tools (including power and manually operated).
  • Ability to distinguish between different wire colors including blue, green, red and black
  • Must be able to communicate (read, write and speak) the English language clearly
