Description

SUMMARY

The Project Manager is the principal administrator and communications link between the firm and the client, consultants, and public authorities and direct surveying projects by performing the following duties.


Requirements

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Be completely versed in the firm-client contract for the project, and of the client’s objectives. Satisfy client’s goals.
  2. Analyze the project scope, the client’s RFP, and the firm’s proposal with the Client. Organize the work on the project and set forth the procedures to be employed in accomplishing the project. Most of the time the Project Manager will be managing the jobs he/she prepared the proposal for.
  3. Be the one point of contact for all incoming and outgoing project information. Ensure proper distribution of project information to all project team members and sub-consultants.
  4. Contract for the services of outside consultants when required.
  5. Administer the budget.
  6. Develop and monitor the project design schedule to meet Client and firm time objectives.
  7. Notify the Client of changes in project scope, and prepare estimates for additional fees.
  8. Keep the Client, Department Manager and the firm Accounting Department informed on the status of the project.
  9. Attend project meetings, as necessary.
  10. Establish documentation and administrative organization for the project
  11. Perform/direct, prepare and sign statutory surveys as required by the contract.


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Work with other Project Managers and VP, Survey to coordinate crew scheduling to meet project demands.
  2. Directly supervise the execution and preparation of plats by subordinate employees, including Project Surveyors, CADD staff, and field crews.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

AutoCAD and MicroStation are required software; working knowledge of Trimble Business Center and RealWorks and ArcGIS is a plus. Basic knowledge of project accounting is required.


Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Surveying/Civil Engineering/Geomatics or an associated field with 24 semester hours of surveying; Professional licensure in the State of Illinois (SIT or PLS) or in another PLSS state with the intent to obtain an Illinois PLS. Minimum of 5 years as a Survey Project Manager.
