The Regional Engagement Coordinator works to cultivate relationships across diverse groups including volunteers, supporters, and communities to advance TU’s strategic objectives in the CT and NY. Trout Unlimited is developing a set of priority waters where we will focus our habitat work, and we are pursuing policy improvements that advance our mission.
The TU Engagement Coordinator will work with TU staff, chapters, councils, and local communities to create opportunities for volunteers to participate in the conservation of priority waters and the advancement of TU’s policy objectives. This position has responsibility for outreach and communication functions including volunteer engagement, community partnerships, and community mobilization that lead to stronger awareness and engagement in priority waters. The work of the Regional Engagement Coordinator will result in meaningful opportunities for volunteers to participate in the care and recovery of priority waters, broaden and diversify the base of support for cold water conservation, and ensure that policymakers hear from cold water fisheries advocates when decisions are being made that impact TU’s mission. The Regional Engagement Coordinator will build and foster person-to-person and people-to-place relationships by mobilizing volunteers to participate in field restoration projects in New York and Connecticut, organizing community outreach in priority areas, rallying anglers throughout the region to influence policy, and implementing TU’s equity practice throughout our work.
The Regional Engagement Coordinator will report to the Restoration Manager for CT and NY and will work directly with field staff to elevate on-the-ground activities. The Regional Engagement Coordinator will be part of a team of people with similar engagement roles, convened under the leadership of the Director of Volunteer Engagement, to facilitate transfer of information and best practices across regions and promote consistency throughout TU.
This is a remote field position, but the candidate is expected to live within the region of eastern NY and western CT occasional weekend work and travel to project locations will be required.
