Social Services Case Aide
Description

Position Summary:  Tahirih is seeking to hire a Social Services Case Aide to Tahirih Justice Center, a non-profit legal services organization, seeks an outgoing and empathetic professional for our Social Services Aide role. Based out of our Falls Church, VA office, this role will require a high degree of emotional intelligence and discretion to support immigrant women and girls fleeing gender-based violence. This position will work in tandem with the Social Services Program Manager to provide holistic trauma-informed support to our clients. 


Please note: This is a one year grant funded position with the option for renewal.


Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Conduct social service, mental health, and medical needs assessments for Tahirih clients
  • Maintain a case load of 15-25 clients
  • Provide initial and ongoing crisis intervention, safety planning, and education about victim’s rights to clients 
  • Research information, provide referrals, advocate and accompany clients, as needed, to access housing/shelter, food banks, education, counseling, budgeting, medical services, public benefits, Crime Victims Compensation, and other social services available locally
  • Write letters of support for cases upon request
  • Maintain regular communication with clients through regular calls and in-person meetings to provide follow-up, additional referrals, and to address other non-legal needs 
  • Maintain clients’ records by inputting case notes, resource information, and progress
  • Organize and facilitate client support group and other client workshops 
  • In collaboration with the Social Services Program Manager, conduct outreach presentations and meetings with partner service providers and public audiences as needed 
  • Support special events and donations drives as needed
  • Supervise academic interns supporting case management work as needed


Requirements
  • 2 to 3 years of relevant experience serving the needs of a diverse population;
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field;
  • Fluent in Spanish (written and spoken), additional languages a plus;
  • Experience working with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault
  • An engaging communicator that can effectively and independently communicate with diverse; audiences and network collaboratively among a variety of stakeholder groups;
  • Comfortable in a collaborative, consultative environment; 
  • Exemplary time management and prioritization skills;
  • Creative problem solving skills 
  • Knowledge of working with migrant populations
