This is a ¾ time position that requires a flexible work schedule any time of the week, but mostly nights and weekends. Start and stop times will vary from week to week depending on what events have been scheduled. The Event Specialist position is physical and may require you to setup and strike tables and chairs and cleanup of rooms for all events daily. You are also responsible for the supervision and management of scheduled events. The specialist stays in contact with the client (on-site contact) throughout the event to ensure the highest guest satisfaction possible. This position will also assist the Sales & Event Coordinators and Operations Supervisor, and General Manager as needed.
Schedule: 3/4-Time, 30 hours per week

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform and complete the setup of tables and chairs for all functions quickly, efficiently, and accurately.
Greet host (on-site contact) for assigned event(s) and stay in contact throughout the event(s). Maintain good relationships with caterers, event planners, and other vendors. Address any issues, solve problems, or event changes in a positive, polite, and professional manner.
Ensure front and back of the house are maintained in a clean and orderly fashion, and cleanup as needed. Report damage or maintenance issues to management.
Setup, run, and ensure audio/visual equipment is properly stored, inventoried, and well maintained as needed.
Prepares entries in an Event Log, detailing the function and comments of the client (on-site contact). Resolves guest complaints within scope of authority; otherwise refers the matter to management. Notifies supervisor and/or security of all unusual events, incidents, strange circumstances, missing items, or alleged thefts.
Assist Sales & Event Coordinators in planning, execution, and after event follow-up as needed.
Collect payments and prepare deposits as needed.
Promotes and maintains the highest level of customer service to all guests, artists, staff and vendors.
Attends pre or post service meetings and other meetings as required by management.
Implements and maintains UCCC and West Valley City policies and procedures.

Must have a high school certificate of graduation (or equivalency).
2 years of experience as a server, banquet captain/host or event supervisor in a high-volume restaurant, hotel, or banquet/event facility.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Ability to work with little or no direct supervision.
Excellent hospitality skills.
Ability to make quick and accurate decisions.
Ability to perform various activities such as constant standing, walking, frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, squatting, and moving items such as tables, chairs, display items, & event related equipment.
Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work well around a large number of people.
Ability to function in a fast-paced environment, under short time constraints and within established deadlines.
Working knowledge of basic Audio/Visual equipment.
Must be able to climb ladders, operate man-lifts and other power equipment.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including extended hours, weekends, and holidays.
Must be able to communicate effectively in English and have basic writing skills
Be able to follow both written and oral instruction
