Compensation: Approximately $16,290–$18,350 depending upon education level

Position Description:

The intern will assist with the planning and implementation of docent and volunteer training, student tours, school outreach, and evening programs for teens. As part of the Go van Gogh® school outreach program, the intern will drive the Museum minivan to school sites throughout Dallas and lead classroom experiences for K-8th grade. The intern will lead K-12 student tours, serve as a mentor to the Teen Advisory Council, and develop teaching materials for tours and Go van Gogh®. The work week for this position is Monday-Friday with occasional evenings and weekends required.

Personal Statement Cover Letter

A detailed one to two page statement explaining your interest in an art museum career. Include information regarding your personal learning expectations for the internship; any prior museum experience; any art and art history related experience; and any education experience, especially working with K-12 audiences.

Transcripts

Transcripts of courses from institutions of higher education where a degree has been or is in the process of being awarded are required. Official transcripts are preferred but unofficial transcripts will be accepted as needed.

Three Letters of Recommendation

Three letters of recommendation must be submitted directly by your recommenders. One of these letters must be from an academic reference.

Requirements
  • Completion of at least an undergraduate degree in art history, art education, or the humanities prior to the start of the internship in August 2019
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Spanish
  • Valid driver's license required
