PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: This paraprofessional position primarily assists clients during day, evening, and weekend programs in a residential substance use disorder facility. This role focuses on areas including admissions (search and seizure), building social skills, recreation, attending and observing recovery support meetings, and monitoring client behavior.  Additionally, this position ensures physical plant safety in accordance with company policy and accrediting body standards.  This individual reports directly to the CT Manager.  

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

1. Monitor all client movement throughout the campus, documenting headcounts in accordance with company policy. Escort clients to meals and meetings. Conduct on-site community meetings with clients. Distribute personal hygiene items, sundries, and nicotine products to clients in accordance with company policy.

2. Regularly observes clients' daily behavior patterns and physical conditions, redirects undesirable or inappropriate behavior, intervenes as appropriate, and reports this information to appropriate staff. 

3. Immediately communicate any indications of client abuse to the program authority.

4. Monitor client areas to ensure a proper rehabilitative atmosphere is maintained.

5. Assists, when necessary, in crisis intervention.

6. Establish positive working relationships with clients.

7. Document case notes concerning orientation to the program, weekend notes on each client, and any extraordinary events during the client’s stay at the facility.

8. Completes/documents new client orientation, including but not limited to the following: facility tour, luggage search, etc.

9. Completes/documents all pertinent information relative to the admission, discharge, and client transfer.

10. Ensure clients report to Medical when called during allocated medication times.

11. Search all clients’ incoming packages and mail.

12. Demonstrates safety measures that prevent employee/resident accidents.

a. Demonstrate good personal body mechanics.

b. Maintain the neatness, cleanliness, and organization of the work environment -including disinfecting procedures upon client discharge.

c. Report all accidents/incidents and hazardous conditions/equipment, as established by departmental policies.

d. Demonstrate knowledge of emergency policies and procedures.

e. Conduct fire and disaster drills as the Harbor House policy manual outlines.

f. Follow established guidelines when using equipment, supplies, and chemicals.

13. Meet with other Clinical Technicians to help them resolve issues while working.

14. Recommend to management any changes that would improve the operations and efficiency of Clinical Technicians.

15. Adhere to all company policies regarding client transportation.

16. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Clinical Technician Manager, Clinical Operations Director, Assistant Executive Director, and/or Executive Director.


Requirements

Positions Qualifications:

  

1. Minimum Education - High School Diploma or GED. No waiver of education shall be granted.

2. Preferred Experience - One year of chemical dependency training and/or mental health training/experience.

3. Minimum Licensure/Certification - CPR Training and Non-violent Crisis Intervention (can be obtained following onboarding).

4. Preferred Education - Additional studies at the college level.

5. Skills: Ability to express information/observations both verbally and in writing in an accurate, professional manner.

6. Interpersonal relationship skills. Considerable knowledge and understanding of AA philosophy and the 12 Steps are preferred.

7. Support personnel employed in Substance Use Disorder Residential Services who self-identify as in recovery must have a minimum of one (1) year of sustained recovery.
