Description

Objectives of Financial Aid Work-Study-Program

 

  1. Provide students with opportunities and stress volunteerism within the community. 
  2. Provide the community with at least one volunteer to perform family literacy activities to pre-school or elementary school age children.
  3. Assist out of town students with employment to ensure necessities are met (i.e. housing, food, transportation.)
  4. To train students in their respective discipline to ensure success in obtaining gainful employment.
Requirements
  1. Students interested in applying for the FWS program must contact Student Services to request an FWS application.
  2. Students will be selected for FWS based on need as defined by Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) ranging from 0 to 4100. Exceptions to EFC waiver will be at the discretion of the Student Financial Services Director.
  3. FWS students must display a higher commitment to their studies by maintaining 95% attendance and at least a 3.5 in GPA.
  4. In order for a student to be eligible for work-study hours; student must have attended scheduled class hours.
  5. Students are not encouraged to work more than 20 hours a week unless requested by email to the Program Director and approved by the Student Financial Services Director.
  6. The student must display professional integrity at all times, as outlined in the WTC Student Handbook.
  7. The student is solely responsible for submitting hours worked through the institutional payroll system.
  8. Students are not employed by WTC, this is Campus-based grant program, and therefore students are not entitled to unemployment compensation, nor any other offered benefits.
