Skid Builder is responsible for using tools to cut wood, assemble, and close skids for shipment of product. The Skid builder uses saws, nail guns, banding equipment and drills in the assembly of the pallets. The Skid Builder will also close pallets and stage them for shipment, as well as moving other finished goods in the warehouse using a forklift or pallet jack.
Move materials by using fork truck or pallet jack.
Note any damage to materials and/or packaging or shortage on way bills from production department.
Review all customer packaging requirements and standards.
Complete packaging requirements according to customer requirements.
Store or deliver incoming materials to the appropriate location.
All movements of material into, out of, and within the warehouse must be accurately recorded on an action sheet.
Operate the stretch wrap machine when wrapping finished goods as specified by customer and/or company standards.
Assist Warehouse personnel with shipping, receiving and/or storage as needed.
Maintain standard levels of housekeeping in work area and in pallet storage area.
High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
The ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematics is required.
Previous forklift experience is required.
Previous experience with power tools and hand tools is required.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at full reach frequently.
Must be able to push and/or pull a wheeled cart weighing up to 250 pounds a distance of 100 yards occasionally
Must be able to stoop and bend frequently.
Must be able to walk on concrete surface constantly.
Must be able to sit on a powered industrial truck frequently.
Must be able to work in hot or cold temperatures constantly and tolerate sudden temperature changes.
Must be on feet on concrete 8-10 hours a day.
Ability to halt warehouse activities for safety or quality concerns
Knowledge of and ability to utilize problem solving tools
Strong Communication skills both oral and written
Knowledge of legal standards for DOT
