PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepare three well-balanced meals in accordance with the standards used by

Harbor Houses of Jackson, Inc.


JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  1. Dietary
  • To follow recipes and prepare food according to standards.
  • Determine food requirements and plan maximum utilization of food items with regard to budget and menu.
  • Prepare and cook food.
  • Weigh and measure ingredients.
  • Put food away in appropriate area, i.e., freezer, cooking area, labeling, and dating all items appropriately.
  • Keep stock levels up and inform supervisor of stock deficiencies.

2. To become familiar with the philosophy of programs for recovery and changes in lifestyle of residents.


3. Cook according to the prepared weekly menus.


4. Put food away in appropriate area, i.e., freezer, cooking areas, labeling, and dating all items appropriately.


5. The quality of prepared food items, the meal service to clients, and the meeting safety and sanitation standards are the priority of the department.


6. Professional Communications

  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Acknowledge and demonstrate respect for the individual diversity of clients.
  • Initiate communications with peers about sanitation and safety.
  • Relay information appropriately over computers, telephone, pages, and other communication devices.

7. Completing cleaning assignments as scheduled, cleaning equipment, and following all safety rules to protect self, other employees, and patients. Follow all Serv Safe and infection control procedures for food storage, preparation, and services.


8. Perform such duties as may be outlined by the Executive Director and/or Assistant Executive Director.



Requirements

Position Qualifications:


  1. High school diploma or equivalent. No waiver of education shall be granted.
  2. One year of cooking experience preferably in a healthcare setting. Other cooking experience will be considered.
  3. ServSafe certification or the ability to obtain certification.
  4. Ability to read and follow recipes.
  5. Basic math. `
  6. Knowledge of Mississippi Department of Health guidelines.
  7. Must be able to take instructions and follow through on instructions.
  8. Valid driver’s license.
