Summer Camp Counselor
Description

Bennett Day School is seeking dynamic, energetic, and innovative summer camp counselors for its summer camp program. In this essential role, counselors will help cultivate a safe, fun, and inclusive environment where campers thrive. Working directly with campers, counselors will lead recreational and enrichment activities that inspire learning, creativity, and social-emotional growth. This is a hands-on opportunity to make a lasting impact by guiding campers through memorable summer experiences


Essential Job Functions:

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and ensure the safety, well-being, and engagement of campers at all times.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly environment by consistently enforcing camp rules, protocols, and behavioral guidelines.
  • Plan, lead, and actively participate in a variety of dynamic activities, including arts and crafts, sports, games, STEM projects, and enrichment sessions.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive camp environment that encourages respect, collaboration, and teamwork.
  • Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating respectful behavior, leadership, and effective communication.
  • Collaborate with fellow counselors to design and implement daily programming and special events.
  • Assist with the daily setup, cleanup, and organization of camp spaces, materials, and equipment.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with fellow staff, supervisors, and families as needed.
  • Respond calmly and appropriately to behavioral challenges, injuries, and other emergencies, following established protocols.
  • Attend all required orientations, staff meetings, and training sessions before and during the camp season.

Summer Camp operates Monday-Friday 7:30 am - 8:30 am for Early Morning Care, 8:30 am - 3:00 pm for Day Camp and 3:00 pm – 5:30 pm for Extended After Care.


Requirements

Qualifications: (Minimum Education and Experience)

  • Must be at least 18 years or older
  • Prior experience working with children in educational, recreational, or caregiving settings.
  • Strong communication, leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain patient, flexible and positive in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Valid CPR/First Aid certification (training may be provided).
  • Ability to pass a background check, if required.
  • Ability to workout side in varied weather conditions (sun, heat, rain).
  • Ability to work camp days and hours as listed.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
Salary Description
$16.20 to $18.50 per hour
