Ascent Classical Academies is seeking a post graduation advisor for its growing K-12 campus in Lone Tree, Colorado, in the south Denver metro area.

At Ascent Classical Academies, we seek to prepare our students to flourish and to live a good life, not simply to graduate.  The Post Graduation Advisor will work to foster a culture of seeking human excellence in whatever journey a student will take when they leave our halls.  Whether they decide to go to college, enter a trade, enlist in the military, or pursue another calling, our Post Graduate Advisor will help give them the exposure, guidance, and support they need to fulfill their aspirations.  

The successful candidate will foster professional friendships with faculty and staff, seek collaborative relationships with parents and post-graduation options, and mentor students in the pursuit of their own flourishing.  He or she may also teach a class depending on the academic schedule and the candidate's area of knowledge.

Ascent Classical Academies is a growing K-12 classical charter school network based in Colorado. Our schools offer an American Classical Education, using the Barney Charter School Initiative K-12 curriculum. Ascent Classical Academy Charter Schools currently serve approximately 1,500 students in K-12 campuses located in the Denver and Fort Collins areas of Colorado, with significant expansion planned throughout Colorado and the West. Ascent Classical Academies offer a well-rounded liberal arts and classical education grounded in virtue and supporting the ideas and philosophy behind the American Founding.

Position Summary:

  • Develop and establish the post-graduation process for students in grades 9-12.
  • Develop and revise post-graduation plans in collaboration with students in grades 9-12. 
  • Support students in their post-graduate aspirations.
  • Hold a strong understanding of both state and ACA graduation requirements.
  • Develop relationships with higher education institutions, trade schools, military recruiters, and other organizations that can help advance opportunities for our students. 
  • Plan and run exposure opportunities like career and college fairs. 
  • Support students who are struggling academically. 
  • Serve as campus Assessment Coordinator for all grades K-12. 
  • Perform other administrative responsibilities that align with the candidate's skills and the needs of the school. 

Employment Type and Range: Full-time, Exempt, $37,000 to $55,000 annually, highly dependent on experience and qualifications 

Desired Start Date:  on or before August 1, 2022

The qualified candidate will have a strong commitment to the mission and vision, solid background in the subject matter, demonstrate high moral character and embrace the virtues of a democratic society. The successful candidate will also foster professional friendships with faculty and staff, seek collaborative relationships with parents, and mentor students in the pursuit of their own flourishing.

  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Desire to work with students from all backgrounds and who have varied aspirations
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to mediate difficult situations
  • Experience in school administration or academic counseling, or equivalent
  • Ability to have a deep understanding of state assessments and graduation requirements
  • For teaching duties, a four-year college degree in the subject(s) taught; no license is required or preferred
