Aftercare Program Coordinator

Description

The Aftercare Program Coordinator will be responsible for assuring an orderly, safe, and pleasant environment in the cafeteria, on the playground and in other designated locations by helping and supervising students during after school hours in accordance with our policies and established school procedures.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Creates and maintains daily schedule and routines for groups of students.
  • Ensures students have adequate homework time.
  • Creates and supervises the creation of activities and lesson plans for students such as art, crafts, and other STREAM related activities.
  • Tracks student check in and check out daily.
  • Accurately submits billing to the school office staff and/or bookkeeper each week.
  • Releases additional staff members during the shift if numbers are below required ratios. 
  • Enforces school rules during aftercare.
  • Supervises students and maintain a safe environment for students to play.
  • Notifies maintenance and/or administration (facilities manager) if there is unsafe equipment or hazards. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma required; Associate degree preferred. 
  • 1-3 years’ experience in similar position is preferred. 
  • Requires an appreciation and respect for the Catholic Church and its teachings. 
  • Employees must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the church. 
  • Their public behavior must not violate the faith, morals or laws of the Church or the polices of the Diocese

Organizational/Interpersonal Skills:

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills are required. 

Language/Communication Skills:

  • The ability to lead and instruct students of all ages as well as to communicate, listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. 
  • The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing. 
  • Strong command of both written and spoken English language.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift at least 15 pounds. Physical demands include balancing, carrying, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, sitting, standing, reaching, stooping, talking and walking. 
  • Also includes the ability to see items close.
