Talent Alliance Director

 Budgeted Annual Salary: $80,000 



Destination Cleveland, in collaboration with public, private and nonprofit partners, is seeking a Director to manage a seamless and coordinated system that identifies, attracts, navigates, engages, welcomes and retains the best talent in Cleveland, with an initial focus on the fast growth sectors of IT/technology (including financial services), healthcare and smart manufacturing, so that by 2030 the Cleveland region is one of the fastest growing and most diverse, inclusive and welcoming metro areas in the Midwest. The Director will lead the Alliance to measurably generate interest in Cleveland as a place to live and work and convert those considering Cleveland into residents and ambassadors of Cleveland.

The Director will be managed as an FTE of Destination Cleveland with additional input and guidance from the Talent Alliance Steering Committee, made up of individuals representing Cleveland’s public, private and nonprofit sectors.


  • Develop and drive a formal network of public, private, and nonprofit entities collaborating to build and activate a coordinated system and resource plan.
  • Regularly meet with Talent Alliance members to understand talent attraction and retention needs and initiatives and advance efforts.
  • Work to establish and meet goals, milestones and KPIs of system.
  • Compile research on successful talent attraction and retention strategies being employed in other cities and stay up to date on economic development and talent attraction best practices and trends.
  • Collaborate on talent and business event attraction marketing campaigns with Destination Cleveland marketing team and/or agency.
  • Collaborate on business event attraction efforts with Destination Cleveland sales team and local business community through Alliance.
  • Develop talent attraction customer journey and lead team responding to inquiries from talent interested in relocating to Cleveland to help them navigate the job search/relocation process.
  • Guide the Alliance in building programming that welcomes and engages business events hosted in Cleveland in alignment with community economic development priorities.
  • Train Talent Alliance business leaders and colleges & universities leaders on brand toolkit.
  • Coordinate with Alliance partners on programs and initiatives as appropriate.
  • Foster partnerships with local businesses, nonprofits, educational institutions, etc. that can collaborate on the above efforts.

  • Minimum four-year degree from an academic organization and/or at least 5 years of experience demonstrating desired qualifications
