Job Summary: The Solar Installer will assemble, install, and maintain solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. This position requires travel.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assembles and installs solar panels on roofs and other structures.
  • Configures PV systems based on site conditions, customers’ needs and expectations; connects panels to the power grid.
  • Follows building standards and codes when installing panels and support structures.
  • Inspects electrical installation and wiring.
  • Tests operating voltages; calibrates to ensure systems are within acceptable power limits.
  • Assembles solar array racking, mounting hardware, properly seal all roof penetrations, and installs all related equipment.
  • Performs routine maintenance on PV systems.
  • Assists in training and instruction to installation team crew members.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of PV equipment and installation, preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical wiring and equipment, preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read building plans, preferred.
  • Ability to read equipment manuals.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools to install PV panels.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Vocational or technical school training preferred.
  • One to Three years solar experience required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work at great heights.
  • Prolonged periods of kneeling, bending, crouching, and climbing ladders.
  • Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Ability to work in extreme environments (example: hot sun, cold, etc)
