Summary of Position: The teacher shall be committed to living a biblical lifestyle and called by God to teach at Vacaville Christian Schools. To teach a school class that is Christ-centered and offers superior education academically, spiritually and socially in a structured, positive environment should be the objective.

A teacher must possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and have a teacher certification or a commitment to become certified. A teacher shall prayerfully help students learn attitudes, skills, and subject matter that will contribute to their development. VCS exists to provide, in partnership with home and church, a distinctive, Christ-centered education in a nurturing environment, which equips young people to excel in life and in service to Jesus Christ.

Teachers are contracted for one year at a time by the Head of School and will automatically expire at the end of the Term.

Reporting Relationship: Principal

Hours of Work: For the duration of this agreement, it is required, at a minimum, on campus & available from 30 min. before the starting time of the first scheduled class thru 30 min. after the scheduled dismissal of school.

Vacaville Christian Schools is currently recruiting for a High School Science Teacher. This is an opportunity to join a strong, collaborative team of teachers who care for our students and work together to provide classroom experiences to guide students to grow in wisdom, character and faith!

Position Overview: Vacaville Christian High School, a Christ-centered institution dedicated to academic excellence and spiritual growth, is seeking a passionate and qualified High School Science Teacher to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will be capable of teaching courses in life sciences and/or physical sciences, which may include Biology, AP Biology, AP Environmental Science, Chemistry, AP Chemistry, and Anatomy & Physiology. This position requires a commitment to integrating biblical principles into science education, fostering a love for learning, and encouraging students to explore God’s creation through scientific inquiry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging, rigorous, and Christ-centered science curriculum.
  • Teach a variety of science courses based on expertise and departmental needs.
  • Integrate biblical perspectives into science instruction and discussions.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that nurtures both academic and spiritual growth.
  • Utilize innovative teaching strategies and hands-on laboratory experiences to enhance student learning.
  • Assess student progress through meaningful assignments, exams, and projects.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary learning experiences.
  • Support the mission and values of [School Name] through active participation in school events, chapel, and community service.

Other Responsibilities

  • Provide timely and effective feedback for student learning, maintaining accurate grades in our classroom management system.
  • Collaborate with other team members for excellent learning and growth of students.
  • Actively live a Christian witness and incorporate biblical integration.
  • Attend an annual Christian retreat with the students.
  • Be present at some school functions and perform additional teacher duties.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in science education, biology, chemistry, environmental science, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
  • State teaching certification or ACSI certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Experience teaching high school science courses, preferably in a Christian school setting.
  • Strong biblical worldview and ability to integrate faith and science.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
  • A heart for discipleship and mentoring students in their faith journey.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching Advanced Placement (AP) science courses.
  • Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and hands-on experimentation.
  • Experience with differentiated instruction and technology integration in the classroom.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $48,000.00 - $68,000.00 per year
