Bizzell is seeking a Career Transition Services Specialist at the Guthrie Job Corps Center in Guthrie, Oklahoma. The Career Transitions Services Specialist will be responsible for developing viable job leads for each trade that meets the Department of Labor's (DOL) quality placement criteria, meeting with employers, establishing linkages for students, organizing mini on-site job fairs for various career pathways, and researching employment trends. Additionally, the role includes assisting in the preparation and service of meals, as well as maintaining kitchen and dining area sanitation.


The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be highly organized, proficient in Excel, and enjoy collaborating with students and business partners. They must maintain a professional appearance, as the role requires spending a significant amount of time in the field. This position follows policies and procedures in accordance with DOL, PRH, Center, and The Bizzell Group requirements.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Conduct innovative outreach activities with public service agencies, community organizations, schools and individuals who might refer eligible candidates to the Job Corps program.
  • Interview interested candidates and obtained pertinent information on each one.
  • Prepare documentation on potential students and review with the center as applicable or necessary.
  • Maintain monthly goals established by the PRH and management.
  • Review and audit all assigned area regularly for contractual compliance and effectiveness of delivery of services to students. Prepare related reports.
  • Arrange for and assist in providing pre-employment orientation, and schedule tours of the center.
  • Prepare necessary and required reports related to the outreach.
  • Assist in the development of new and revised policies and procedures affecting student recruitment.
  • Create a network with youth development agencies, one-stop agencies, churches, and community organizations to provide a wide base for recruiting of potential students.
  • Introduce labor market information to help with the career transition period process and analyze career paths in local labor market.
  • Participate in student employability programs and activities.
  • Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance Policy.
  • Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors through interventions.
  • Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices.
  • Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance Policy.
  • Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary, and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
  • Maintain accountability of staff, students, and property; adhere to safety practices; attend all required training.
  • Follows CDSS plan and Code of Conduct system daily.
  • Assists with quarterly graduation exercises.
  • Adheres to required property control policies and procedures.
  • Maintains good housekeeping in all areas and complies with safety practices.
  • Complies with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulations, Quality Assurance Plan (QAP), Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures.

  • Participation in PRH-mandated staff training is mandatory. Failure to participate may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Requirements:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Proficiency with advanced Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Computer Literacy with basic computer functions, email, internet, and basic programs such as Adobe Acrobat.
  • Strong knowledge of the subject area of instruction and academic teaching practices.
  • High level of communication, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.
  • High level of ability to motivate, inspire, and educate students effectively.

Experience:

  •  Bachelor's degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, business, communications, or closely related field; or associate’s degree and two years related experience required. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer proficiency are also required. 
  • A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is required.
