Making an Offer

After the interviewing process is complete and a selection is made, Kamco will reach out to the employee with an offer.   At the time an offer is made the vetting process will begin.

Vetting a Potential Employee

After an offer is made and accepted, we will begin the vetting process of verifying candidate’s information.   Note that Kamco complies with all federal and state privacy laws regarding candidate data.  The candidates will receive links to complete the following required checks:

  • Background Check – Federal, state and local records will be searched for criminal background checks.   In MA, CORI’s may also be pulled.
  • Motor Vehicle Records – for employees who will be driving, MVR’s will be requested.  This may include Salespeople, Admin Staff, etc. who may be driving during company hours to customers, construction sites, vendors, outside meetings, other Kamco branches, etc.

For Operation Employees – Kamco’s Operation positions are safety sensitive positions,

  • Pre-hire negative drug screen following the federal DOT regulations for CDL drivers.  Note that all positive DOT drug results are reported to FMCSA, as required by federal law.  Non-DOT positions will be screened following standard lab protocol.
  • Pre-employment Physical will be done at our local Occupational Health centers for each branch.   This physical will require a lift test for all positions.
  • Pre-employment DOT physical will be done for all CDL and non-CDL Drivers.  The candidate must hold a valid DOT card in order to drive our vehicles.

For CDL Drivers –

  • In addition to the above, we will also send links for review of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) for validity of current DOT status.
  • All CDL drivers will be required to complete an “Hours of Service” on their first day at Kamco outlining their work hours from the previous week.
  • All CDL drivers will be road-tested prior to operating our vehicles.

When vetting is complete and all requirements have been met, a start date will be established between the hiring manager/supervisor and the candidate.

When vetting is complete, but not all requirements have been met, the candidate will be contacted about any issues that may need to be resolved prior to hiring.  HR and the hiring manager/supervisor will discuss potential ability for moving forward or not.

Operations Staff – All operations staff will spend time during their first week with Kamco doing Safety Training.   Depending upon the position, this training will run from 4 hours to 1.5 days.  Safety Training will be available live, in-person, for employees who work close to the Woburn area.   Employees who work longer distances from Woburn will participate via live Teams meeting.

Training for non-operations employees will be outlined by the hiring manager/supervisor.
