Privacy Policy for Recruitment Purposes

Minneapolis College of Art and Design (‘the College’) is committed to protecting the privacy and security of a candidate's personal information. This Privacy Policy describes how the College collects, uses, stores, and shares personal data during the recruitment and hiring process.
1. Data Collection
The College may collect the following:
- Identification details such as name, address, telephone number, physical address, email, and username.
- Resume and application data, such as previous work experience; compensation; education; skills; professional and work-related licenses; permits, certifications, awards and memberships; and information about references.
- Work eligibility data, such as national ID/passport, work visa or permit, and background check information.
- Voluntary demographic data, such as gender, race, veteran status, and disability status.
- Technical data, such as IP address, application portal logs, and cookies.
- Any other information a candidate may elect to provide.
2. Data Usage
The College may use this information for the following purposes:
- Analyze and assess qualifications and suitability for employment.
- Communicate with candidates about the recruitment process.
- Verify candidate information, and conduct reference and background checks.
- Maintain recruitment records.
- Comply with legal requirements.
The College may share this information with:
- Authorized personnel involved with the hiring process.
- Legal and regulatory authorities if required by law.
- Service providers who help facilitate the recruitment process, such as background check companies and applicant tracking systems.
3. Data Retention
- The College retains candidate information 1) as long as necessary to complete the recruitment process, and 2) for a one-year period in order to comply with legal obligations.
- The College uses secure means to dispose of physical records or to make electronic records anonymous in a non-recoverable manner.
4. Applicant Rights
Candidates have the right to:
- Access, correct, or delete provided data.
- Object to or restrict the use of their data.
- Request a copy of their data.
- File a complaint with a data protection authority.

5. Data Security
- The College uses appropriate technical, physical, and organizational security measures to protect personal information. The College implements controls to protect confidentiality and data integrity.
- In the case of a suspected data breach, the College will notify candidates. If a candidate has reason to believe there has been a data breach, they should notify the College immediately at hr@mcad.edu.
6. Updates
The College may modify, alter, or update this policy at any time. Modifications will be made effective immediately based on the date listed above.
