Zingerman’s Deli Sandwich Line Cook

Zingerman’s Deli Sandwich line is a world renowned kitchen, making full-flavored sandwiches with homemade ingredients for over 40 years. Our menu has won numerous “Best Of” awards and we’ve had the honor of serving many esteemed guests (President Obama, ESPN’s GameDay crew, and Kelly Ripa to name a few). We are proud to include the finest ingredients in our sandwiches, and we work hard to serve our extensive customer base.

Zingerman’s Sandwich Line is a high volume kitchen that prides itself on its great energy. We make a lot of Sandwiches and we have a lot of fun doing it. Line cooks are responsible for preparing and cooking sandwiches to order, expediting orders in an accurate and timely fashion, and keeping stations clean and stocked. We slice our bread to order, we serve our meat hot and fresh, and care greatly about teamwork and communication, both within and outside of our department.

Our cooks typically work 8-9 hour shifts between the hours of 9am and 8pm, weekend availability is required.

Performance expectations, essential functions

• Prepares food according to our recipes and SOP’s, accurately and under pressure
• Maintains proper station set up and a pristine work area
• Effectively communicates and works with all staff at the Deli
• Familiar with industry practices
• Works with a sense of urgency
• Helps to continually improve kitchen systems, culture and environment
• Able to handle a high volume of work for long periods of time

Success Patterns and personal characteristics:

• 1-2 years of cooking experience preferred
• Has a love and care for food and quality
• Calm under pressure
• Is able to work independently and as part of a team
• Completes training passports within the expected timeframe
• Arrives on time for all shifts, classes, and huddles

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift 50lbs
• Can be on your feet for an 8 hour shift
