Zingerman's Delicatessen is Hiring Specialty Foods Staff!
Be a part of the Zingerman’s Deli Team! If you are interested in a fast-paced, fun and friendly environment and would like to be one of our Specialty Foods staff — we’d love to have you on our team! You are the front line of our specialty foods grocery store — delivering the Zingerman’s Experience and sharing your food knowledge and expertise to help our guests find the perfect meat, cheese, bread, olive oil or other traditionally made, full-flavored foods. This full-time position pays $17-$19/hour when tips are included. We also pay you to learn (no prior food knowledge necessary, just a passion for learning) AND you’ll also get a free meal on each shift, a paid break, a staff discount at all Zingerman’s businesses, access to health insurance, a super discounted bus pass, and lots of other staff benefits.
Compensation: Base compensation is $13 per hour. Total compensation is $17-$19 per hour when tips are included.
- Full-time availability preferred (32-40 hours per week)
- Part-time candidates will be considered based on availability and experience
- We offer flexible schedules, including weekends, as well as a structured training program and the opportunity to be part of a team that values your contributions
- Four day work week
- Most shifts are 10am-7:30pm
- Available shifts include weekdays, weekends and holidays
- Shift times will vary during hours of operation

Our performance expectations
Essential Functions:
- Shares the Zingerman's experience with our guests by learning, selling and educating about our products (specialty cheeses, meats, breads and dried goods)
- Slices, wraps and packages products (including gift-wrapping for guests)
- Stocks products and maintains our exceptional displays
- Keeps workspaces safe and clean, including sanitation, sweeping and wiping surfaces, removing recycling, compost and trash, etc.
- Positively responds to direction and requests for assistance from co-workers, supervisors, managers and guests
- Takes initiative to help any area of the Deli if possible
- Engages in department operations by attending weekly open-book meetings
- Continues learning about and promoting all of the great foods we sell
Physical requirements:
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds often during a full shift
- Must stand, lift and bend for duration of a full shift
- Repetitive motion including fine manipulation of hands and fingers when using knives and slicers
- Must be able to see and clearly read a variety of text sizes at a short distance
- Dexterity and attention to detail in neatly packaging goods for sale
- Must be able to ascend and descend through multiple levels of the Deli building
