T&J Heating, A/C and Plumbing is a full-service heating, air conditioning and plumbing organization, providing new installation, repairs and ongoing maintenance services to commercial and residential clients throughout New England.  


Position Title: Service Technician

Department: Service and Construction

Reports to: HVAC Service Office Manager

 Employment Status: Full Time

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


Position Summary 

Primarily responsible for existing customers service calls on heating and cooling equipment as well as performing seasonal maintenance. 


Essential Functions

  • Repair of HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical equipment, including refrigeration and air conditioning compressors, receivers,      condensers, chillers, cooling towers, forced air units, pumps, valves (manual and automatic), expansion valves, and capillary tubes.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance inspections on Plumbing, Electrical and HVAC systems such as boilers, gas and electric air conditioning units, and isolated heating and ventilation equipment; make necessary adjustments or repairs
  • Evaluate systems for efficiency, safety, and code compliance; recommend repairs or replacements as needed.
  • Respond to service calls promptly and professionally, including emergency after-hours calls when scheduled
  • Receive, prioritize, and complete daily work orders in a timely and efficient manner
  • Maintain accurate records of labor hours, material used, and work completed.
  • Monitor and manage an inventory of tools, parts, and materials; report shortages as needed
  • Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure work areas are clean.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure proper function
  • Ensure work is completed to code and meet customer expectations. 
  • Follow all applicable building codes, safety regulations, and company procedures.

Other Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with supervisors to ensure project meets or exceeds customer expectations
  • Identify and correct unsafe working conditions; immediately report any uncorrectable hazards to the supervisor.
  • Comply with all applicable      standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and the maintenance of a clean work area
  • Support other departments or trades  within the company during staff shortages, absences, or light construction projects as needed.
  • Other Duties as Assigned.

Requirements


  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a company truck      or van
  • Two or more years of HVAC / apprentice experience including diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining existing HVAC systems, as well as participating in installations for new construction and home renovation projects.
  • Familiarity with HVAC codes and industry standards
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and technical reference materials
  • Experience using a variety of hand and power tools, including pipe benders, propane torches, and welding equipment
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn and grow within the trade
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and manuals
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
