Our work springs from the core belief in Latino community self-determination—that is, the ability of community members to participate meaningfully in the decisions that affect their lives and the lives of their families. We build and manage collaborative and energetic teams to implement high quality, culturally inclusive programs. We actively partner across a variety of city, county, state and community organizations to deliver training and support, a wide range of services, as well as influence policy. Latino Network is a fast-paced, highly engaged work environment with satellite operations with Multnomah County.
Latino Network seeks a bilingual, bi-cultural mission-driven professional with proven nonprofit and community experience to lead school-based programming including case management and afterschool groups. As part of a dedicated team working toward a shared vision, the Youth Engagement Specialist is charged with carrying out the vision of the Department of Youth Education and Wellness. The Youth Engagement Specialist ensures and promotes youth safety, growth, and leadership; and has proven skills in providing individual case management and facilitating skill-building curriculum for student groups. The Specialist works collaboratively to achieve program goals and document measurable youth development outcomes, contributes to a collegial and productive work environment and promotes the organization’s vision and mission.
The Youth Engagement Specialist will carry out culturally specific programming at Jefferson High school with the goal of improving school performance and attendance and decrease disciplinary referrals. One part of programming is focused on supporting 11th and 12th grade students by implementing Escalera, a college and career readiness program that includes providing information about college saving and planning, financial aid, college, and scholarship application assistance programs and processes, and career exploration, all while building a positive cultural identity. Another is focused on leading a MECHA club for 9th through 12th-grade students. Summer programming is focused on supporting rising 12th graders for their senior year. The Youth Engagement Specialist must have facilitation experience and be able to guide conversations clearly and fluently in both English and Spanish.
