Position Description 

 The Director of Marketing will build and manage robust, innovative, and impactful marketing campaigns and programming centered around U.S. Soccer’s biggest moments and priority initiatives and designed to grow our fan base and generate greater engagement from fans.  As the marketing and project lead, you will take a fan first approach and be responsible for developing and implementing campaign strategies and tactics and ensuring the successful execution and promotion of integrated marketing initiatives centered around key platforms such as the FIFA World Cup, FIFA Women’s World Cup, National Team Competitions, SheBelieves, Insiders, retail, and more to help U.S. Soccer achieve its business and brand objectives. This individual should bring strong project management, digital marketing skills and an understanding of all aspects of marketing. 


  • Guide strategy and plan development for new and evolving platforms and marketing initiatives in alignment with U.S. Soccer’s mission, objectives and strategies. 
  • Oversee integrated marketing platform development and partnering with project leads and subject matter experts to ensure executions are in alignment with strategic priorities, are staying on budget and on schedule.
  • Lead marketing campaign strategy, planning and implementation for attendance and viewership of National Team matches and events.
  • Coordinate cross-departmental process and collaboration around campaigns, platforms and announcements to ensure project timelines, marketing calendars, branding, promotion, communication, analytics, subject matter experts, and partnership integrations are aligned and executed 
  • Ongoing review of marketing campaign performance and optimization based on learnings and insights
  • Work with subject matter experts to develop marketing strategies for key areas of U.S. Soccer’s business – retail, loyalty, development, etc. 
  • Prepare and manage marketing campaign budgets and paid media campaigns
  • Lead integrated project teams including staffing, scheduling, and overseeing regular planning and status meetings  
  • Source agencies and vendors to help in execution when applicable and manage communication and relationships with internal and external stakeholders including agencies, partners, consultants, etc.
  • Conduct review process and proper close out at the conclusion of each project, event, or campaign to ensure optimization and manage necessary document retention and organization of project details 


Minimum Qualifications  

  • At least seven (7) years consumer marketing or related experience in event marketing and/or digital brand marketing
  • Digital and direct marketing experience
  • Experience sourcing and overseeing contracted vendors and agency project work
  • Ability to develop positive, professionally and collaborative working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders such as management, staff, contractors, partners, etc.
  • Ability to communicate in a consistently reliable and courteous manner at all times 
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Operates efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to think critically and problem solve
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Excellent organizational, planning and project management skills
  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to prioritize workflow while delivering high quality work

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Able and willing to travel and work non-traditional hours including evenings, weekends & holidays as necessary
