Weavers Way Co-op is looking for an energetic, creative, and experienced individual to be the Bakery Buyer in our Ambler. We are excited to have this opportunity available for the right candidate. The schedule for this position is Tuesday- Saturday 7am-3pm.
As the Bakery Buyer, you’re integral to the entire operation. You know about the brands, have good relationships with vendors, and have an eye for what the next big seller will be. You evaluate current vendors and seek to find new ones. You love to research. Customers know your name because you have gone above and beyond to offer excellent customer service. You work with your manager to find new ways to streamline processes and come up with new ideas. Fellow staff can depend on you to provide knowledge about bakery products, whether for their own learning or to assist a shopper. You like chatting with all kinds of folks. You know the definitions of the words local, sustainable, and have a love and knowledge of bakery items. Last, but not least, you’re in this role because you were looking for a challenge with a company full of dedicated staff who do awesome things.
The Bakery Buyer is responsible for supporting the Grocery manager to ensure successful day-to-day operations of the bakery section, a subset of the Grocery department. The management of inventory/product and attention to maintaining a local competitive position is key. The Bakery Buyer must be able to merchandise and market the products. They must possess a keen ability to manage many requests, communicate, and motivate others.
This position requires a focus on customer service as a top priority. Customer requests/complaints are to be addressed quickly and effectively. Making it right is what counts. Previous experience with sales and strategic thinking is a must. The Bakery Buyer must always be seeking ways to increase sales, bring in ethical, quality products, and new ways to market goods. Attaining margin and sales goals for the department is key. They must be able to think day-to-day and organically into the future, and serve as an advocate of our co-op principles. Previous bakery buying experience in a retail environment is highly preferred.
