The role of a Skilled Wall laborer requires individuals to form, reinforce, and pour concrete foundations and walls with little to no supervision. This position will work throughout the Green Bay, Madison, and Milwaukee areas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Load, unload and identify building materials, machinery, and tools. Distribute them to the appropriate locations according to project plans and specifications.
• Smooth and finish freshly poured concrete, using floats, trowels, screeds, or powered cement finishing tools.
• Spray materials such as form oil and sealer.
• Move materials or goods between work areas using Manitou or skid steer.
• Repair cracks, defects, or damage in installed building materials.
• Grind or cut concrete.
• Measure, mark, and record openings and distances to layout areas where construction work will be performed.
• Install rebar per rebar plans.
• Properly use hand finishing tools.
• Ability to navigate through plans.
• Understand and apply patch and overlay materials on a broom, hand, and decorative finishes.
• Successful removal of concrete in various situations (jackhammer, chipping hammer, breakers, etc.).
• Perform wall injections as required.
• Grout anchor bolts.
• Operate multiple types of concrete saws, grinders, and vacuums.
• Understand and utilize multiple sealers on varying concrete projects.
• Able to troubleshoot and correct any problems that occur during screed operations
• Able to load, unload, maintain, clean, operate, and transfer screed safely.
• Able to set up and run efficiently for flat, single, dual, and 3D floor operation.
• Set up and run Laser Graders (flat and 3D).
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• 3 or more years of concrete construction experience
• Previous concrete construction experience (preferred).
• Not afraid of heights, including heights over four (4) feet.
• Ability to read a tape measure.
• Ability to read a level.
CERTIFICATIONS: Obtain and maintain within one (1) month of hire the following:
• Valid Driver’s License (Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A Preferred)
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Ability to stand between 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
• Ability to walk between 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
• Ability to sit between 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
• Ability to use hands greater than 2/3 of the time.
• Ability to reach with hands and arms between 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
• Ability to climb or balance between 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
• Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl between 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
• Ability to talk and hear greater than 2/3 of the time.
• Ability to lift, move, push or pull up to 50 pounds to the waist, chest, and overhead more than 1/3 of the time.
• Ability to lift, move, push or pull up to 150 pounds less than 1/3 of the time.
• Ability to use close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
