A Principal level title means the person is an individual contributor that does not seek a management/leadership career track but instead a technical career track. This individual wants to be at the highest level of subject matter expertise in the field without managing or leading people. It is unlikely this person would become a people leader as a Director/VP/EVP. A Quality Assurance Tester Principal works on a team of software quality assurance testing professionals working within a culture of creativity, innovation, and excellence in all areas of software quality assurance and testing.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Learn our core product, MedCompass, serve as a subject matter expert
  • Assist the team testing the defect load for production and pre-production environments
  • This role person is an individual contributor that does not seek a management/leadership career track but instead a technical career track.
  • Works at the highest level of subject matter expertise in the field without managing or leading people. It is unlikely this person would become a people leader as a Director/VP/EVP.
  • Understand any customer workflows associated with the team
  • Quickly master testing business rules; e.g., gain an understanding of how they are developed and how they work within MedCompass and the customer’s workflow
  • Work directly with the QA Testers on the Customer Integration QA team to triage defects to determine if they are product related, configuration related, or other types of defects
  • Work directly with the Configuration team to log, triage, track and help resolve defects that appear to be config-related (i.e., follow process for notifying config team)
  • Work directly with the Product team to log, triage, track and help resolve defects that appear to be product related (i.e., follow process for notifying product team)
  • Work with delivery lead, team members and the release manager to understand the testing requirements for deployments to a variety of internal and customer environments
  • Assist the QA Manager as they work directly with client QA team to prepare for (daily defect meeting) on new and outstanding defects
  • Perform extensive front end and back end (Database Validation) testing using your SQL skills
  • Participate (and be prepared to back up the QA lead) in any other appropriate client defect meetings
  • Analyze sprint work, author and execute test cases for all assigned user stories and defects
  • Meet with QA Testers and management on regular basis to review project(s) and talk about issues
  • Seek out and communicate opportunities for process improvements
  • Be proactive in getting work done as you wait for builds, etc.
  • Actively participate meetings – QA should be involved early and frequently
  • Have automation experience or an interest in learning to automate testing
  • Participate in any appropriate Agile meetings (either internal or external)
  • Work directly with AssureCare Internal Support team as needed
  • Communicate openly and honestly within the QA department
  • Set SMART goals for yourself and achieve them
  • Critical thinker who brings a passion and love for high-quality software


Requirements

Skills / Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of quality assurance testing experience
  • 5+ years of testing experience within a software company, Agile experience is required
  • 3+ years of experience doing database validation using SQL
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field required. Master’s degree preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of QA methodologies, best practices and tools
  • Extensive Manual testing experience
  • Extensive experience testing various Web Services/API
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of SDLC, RDBMS and MS Office
  • Shows creativity and initiative to improve product test coverage and effectiveness.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and adaptability to be successful in a growing company
  • Experience with defect-tracking tools such as TFS, JIRA etc.
  • Proficiency with SQL and date validation is a must
  • Working knowledge of EDI (278) is a plus
  • Previous healthcare experience a plus
  • Automation experience with Selenium a plus
  • Technically strong yet functionally inclined to understand the technical without forgetting the user perspective
  • Extensive experience creating/organizing test plans and staying on top of important issues
  • Excellent SQL skills
  • Proactive when you discover a problem and effectively drive resolution as needed
  • Considered a technical tester
  • Comfortable in a team setting working with clients, management, and internal resources in a fast-paced agile environment
  • Provide professional, but candid, feedback on AssureCare approach and when it is not work, be solution-oriented
  • A learner who enjoys keeping up to date on the product and the field and strives to be a master at subject matter expertise
  • Triaging and recreating client defects is an enjoyable activity
  • Want to be part of building a new, constantly changing and evolving company
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Ability to work off hours, weekends and nights on occasion for project-based deliverables
