The Construction Inspector is responsible for reviewing construction plans and specifications and providing onsite inspection services for construction projects in compliance with plans and specifications and in accordance with MSD’s Inspector Handbook.  Construction projects may vary, but will primarily be for underground pipe installation, replacement, and repairs for Louisville MSD.


Candidates for all the requested positions shall possess the following general skills and qualifications:

· Associate Degree (or higher) related to Construction Management, or direct field experience in construction, specifically in underground pipe installation. 

· NICET Level II or Level III certification in applicable area (or ability to obtain certification within six months of starting the assignment). An equivalent combination of education, experience, and licensing/certification may be substituted.

· Knowledge and understanding of federal, commonwealth, county and local codes.

· Knowledge and understanding citing and enforcing code requirements in the construction of commercial buildings, heavy industrial buildings, pump stations, and wastewater treatment facilities, roads, bridges, and drainage structures.

· The ability to read, understand, and apply code requirements as they apply to construction situations.

· The ability to clearly, accurately, and completely document deviations.

· The ability to work under little or no regular supervision.

· The ability to maintain an effective working relationship with builders, contractors, consultants, fellow employees, other departments, and the general public.

· The ability to read, write, and speak English at a level necessary for satisfactory job performance.
