We are seeking a Database Administrator with the following skills in the Washington DC area. The position requires a candidate to have an active Top Secret Security Clearance.
This position is for an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to support the FBI’s computer systems being used for the delivery of training content and training related services. This position involves working in support of the Training Division to deliver training content and training related services to FBI personnel. The Database Administrator role will be responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of databases. The DBA will provide technical expertise in the design, implementation, and maintenance of these databases and additionally would monitor and resolve all database issues and problems.
- Install and configures SQL Servers 2016+
- Assesses malfunctions of database servers or software applications for the purpose of determining appropriate actions to maintain database performance and operations
- Assists in monitoring capacity and performance for test and production databases to ensure they are highly reliable, efficient, cost effective, and provide the required functionality
- Ensures the appropriate database standards and best practices are followed
- Creates, test, and executes SQL queries and reports as needed
- Performs maintenance operations daily, weekly and monthly on MS SQL servers and databases
- Develops, manages and test database and information system backup and recovery plans
- Consult w/customers, vendors and other technical and support areas on database-related topics or issues
- Tests upgrades/new releases of database software and related products and assess impact to customers and the database environment
- Monitor and maintain system health and security for all databases
- Create DB accounts for all users and assign security levels
- Establish a disaster recovery protocol
- Create and document database management procedures
- Create custom monitoring and maintenance plans
- Manage security and report incidents
- Other duties as consistent with this role
- Bachelors or advanced degree in Computer Information Systems or related field; experience and/or appropriate certifications may be substituted for degree
- Must have 3+ years prior experience serving as a Database Administrator
- Experience w/any of the following: Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Transact-SQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Azure SQL Service, Mgmt. Studio, TOAD for SQL and Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and up
- Experience with Azure SQL as a service
- Experience with database migration, performance tuning, and optimization, and setting up and managing database connections
- Familiar with SQL reporting services including creating, modifying and managing custom reports
- Experience in database administration of multiple databases
- Strong knowledge of SQL databases
- Experience with data recovery and data migration
- Experience with troubleshooting and resolving database issues
- Able to multitask, prioritize, and mange time efficiently
- Accurate and precise attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent analytical, quantitative and organizational skills
- Up-to-date on the latest industry trends; able to articulate trends and potential clearly and confidently
- Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management
