Come join the Admissions team at New England College of Optometry (NECO)!!  We are seeking an Assistant Director or Admissions, Recruitment and Events in this HYBRID (3 days in office, 2 days remote) role! The Assistant Director is an integral part of a talented admissions team charged with overseeing the interview program and event management and execution, supporting recruiting and admissions efforts.  Please apply with a resume and cover letter.

Campus Visit and Event Management

  • Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of all on-campus and virtual admission events and interview days.
  • Responsible for all aspects of event management, including project plans and timelines, the registration process, data collection and reporting, budget management, room reservations, catering, and all event-related communication.
  • Serve as a lead technology advisor for visit programs to maximize efficiency and streamline communication wherever possible.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise Student Ambassadors who are event ambassadors and tour guides. Manage student ambassador budget, electronic timecards, and schedules to ensure appropriate levels of visit and event coverage.
  • Regularly monitor survey results, and conduct quality assurance audits for campus events.


  • Maintain advanced working knowledge of NECO to assist students with the admissions process and market all programs.
  • Meet with and counsel prospective students and evaluate their candidacy for the OD program.
  • Lead on- and off-campus and virtual presentations, including information sessions and class visits, for small and large groups.
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with prospective students and influencers at feeder schools.
  • Manage and monitor frontline office email and assist with marketing and communications initiatives and CRM coordination and management.
  • Plan and execute recruitment travel as needed, representing NECO at recruiting events throughout the US and Canada. Build upon existing relationships throughout the region and nationally and internationally to further promote NECO’s program.
  • Participate in the development of recruitment strategies and manage specialized recruitment functions, including oversight of pre-health advisor outreach and communication and assisting with social media plans and execution.
  • Provide a high level of personalized service to inquiries and applicants.

General Office Responsibilities

  • Assist with office operations as needed, including providing support for the application and data input systems and the overall communications flow.
  • Answer incoming phone calls on rotation with other admissions staff.
  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience)
  • 1-3 years of professional experience, preferably in higher education, admissions, or event coordination
  • Experience in event planning and execution
  • Demonstrated caring, positive, professional attitude along with a sense of humor
  • Excellent problem solving, multi-tasking, customer service, and organizational skills, as well as strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional communication skills in both verbal and written forms
  • High proficiency in in-person and virtual presentation skills utilizing multiple platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet, etc.
  • Ability to exercise initiative as a critical member of a team and to work independently with high efficiency and productivity
  • Familiarity with MS Office/Google suite and CRM platforms and a willingness to adapt quickly to changing technologies
  • Ability to travel and work some evenings and weekends
