About the Position:

We are currently seeking a Senior Fuel System Project Engineer to add to our team in Colorado Springs, CO. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled and passionate self-starter to work directly with local and national projects. The candidate will work in a highly collaborative interdisciplinary office environment.
The Senior Project Engineer is an experienced engineer who approves and develops fuel storage (UST and AST), dispensing systems, and piping for industrial, commercial, and retail projects. The Senior Project Engineer oversees projects and manages the fuel design team, manages and assumes design responsibility for fuel design and production of multiple projects, and performs engineering tasks, including overall project QA/QC tasks, as required. Additionally, performs scope of work and budget estimates for proposals. Mentors and provides direction to less-senior level Department members. The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for the coordination, implementation, execution, control, financial performance and timely completion of projects, and the delivery of projects/programs that are consistent with company strategies, commitments, and goals. This position provides training, mentoring and project guidance for staff members. As a leadership position within the company, the Senior Project Engineer promotes and develops new and repeat business opportunities that are in alignment with Galloway’s strategies and goals.


Responsibilities:

  • As a lead position, provides technical direction over a group of CAD designers and engineers and/or functions as a technical specialist, staff advisor, and consultant; uses independent judgment to formulate and develop advanced engineering concepts for a given project or program function.

  • Conducts constructability reviews or assists in the design/planning/review of other engineering projects assigned to others.
  • Prepares improvement plans, specifications, supporting documents, and permit applications for projects.
  • Coordinates technical and administrative activities for a project with other disciplines and departments within Galloway and outside Firms.
  • Resolves a variety of complex problems; e.g., conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.
  • Performs work involving fueling system design.
  • Exercises judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Provides supervision and guidance for overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters within team; Consults with Senior Project Manager , Team Manager and/or Practice Area Leader concerning unusual problems and developments and obtains approvals as appropriate.
  • Takes a leadership role in the development of new business, promoting repeat and referral business with existing clients, and developing new business that is in alignment with Galloway’s strategies and goals; participates in networking events and business development meetings.
  • Prepares and reviews project proposals, qualification statements, promotional materials, and professional services agreements; responsible for preparation, obtaining internal and external approvals, and managing final execution and subsequent amendments.
  • Plans, develops, coordinates, and directs team during the execution of projects.
  • Takes an active role in coaching, mentoring, and delegating responsibility to less-senior level staff; provides daily “on-the-job” training for team members.
  • Serves as a primary and/or secondary contact with clients; fosters culture of effective internal and external communication between Client and team members.
  • Develops and implements project schedules and resource management that facilitates timely performance.
  • Manages project budget; communicates budget allocation to staff for their respective assignments.
Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's of Science in Engineering from a four-year, board-approved engineering curriculum. 
  • PE or ability to obtain within 1 year.

Experience 

  • Typically, a minimum of 8 years of progressive work experience in the fueling system design/engineering field after educational requirements.

Qualifications 

  • Possesses a working knowledge of the principles and practices of fueling system design engineering 
  • Understands and possesses a working knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, and approval processes as well as site-specific research with respect to these issues.
  • Understands and uses engineering principles, codes, and standards in fuel design.
  • Experienced in fueling design for convenience stores and the components of associated retail fueling systems.
  • Experienced in retail fueling systems and commercial/fleet fueling systems, including bulk fuel storage, dispensing systems, and pipelines.
  • Works well with AutoCAD technicians and AutoCAD designers for the preparation and modification of plans.
  • Possesses advanced knowledge of approval and permitting process for projects.
  • Demonstrates strong technical and design calculation skills.
  • Demonstrates advanced technical writing skills for reports and letters.
  • Is highly organized, with the ability to understand interdisciplinary issues.
  • Demonstrates effective communication, financial management, and leadership skills to manage schedules and budgets.
  • Is proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Communicates in a timely and effective manner within team and with clients, various agencies, and other disciplines and managers.
  • Serves as a main and/or secondary point of contact with client; receives and conveys client goals and objectives to team members.
  • Demonstrates effective leadership skills in directing and completing multiple projects with multiple clients.
  • Demonstrates effective leadership skills in managing, mentoring, training, coaching, and developing team members.
  • Works independently with little supervision; exercises independent judgment in completion of work, including directing engineering activities to complete project.

The estimated starting salary pay range for this role is $92,000-$130,000
