Solutions Architect (Infrastructure)
Description

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

The Solutions Architect (Infrastructure) provides senior consultative services and project work for Professional Services clients and leadership within the Professional Services team. He or she is responsible for designing, implementing, and remedying complex solutions across a broad range of technologies, with a particular focus on on-premise/hybrid infrastructure. The Solutions Architect provides highly visible project work and consultation for Managed Solution clients. He or she will work with clients to gather requirements; design solutions; present solutions in presales meetings with cross-level teams, including executives; implement project work, including occasional onsite deployment/migration work.

He or she will be a Subject Matter Expert regarding Infrastructure to provide architecture, consulting, project implementation, and high-level troubleshooting, designing client environments for on-prem and hybrid-cloud infrastructure, including:

  1. Servers: Provides design, project implementation, and high-level troubleshooting for client server infrastructure, including Windows Server (all versions) and virtualization environments on both Hyper-V and vSphere, in addition to Citrix XenApp and/or XenDesktop. 
  2. Storage + Power: Provides design, project implementation, and high-level troubleshooting for SAN and other storage solutions, as well as power needs (UPS, PDUs, etc.) for on premise solutions.
  3. Active Directory: Provides design, project implementation, and high-level troubleshooting for Active Directory, including Group Policy, Access/Identity Management, Federation Services, Domain Controllers, etc. for medium to enterprise environments. 
  4. Networking: Provides architecture, project implementation, and high-level troubleshooting for networking infrastructure, including: Routing, switching, firewalls, WAPs, VPNs, load balancers, etc. in medium to larger LAN/WAN environments, including cloud environments (Azure, Amazon AWS).
  5. Exchange/Messaging: Provides implementation, migration, and high-level troubleshooting services for Microsoft Exchange and messaging systems, including Office365.

The Solutions Architect (Infrastructure) is responsible for carrying out assigned work in the above functional areas, and any other projects as assigned by a supervisor. Additionally, he or she shall comply with all company policies and maintain strict client confidentiality.

Requirements

 Education and Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, plus a minimum of 7 years’ experience providing server/desktop support within a Microsoft environment.  Equivalent combination of education, experience, and skillsets will also be considered. 
  • Previous experience as a successful consultant for infrastructure services (experience planning and implementing numerous successful infrastructure deployments and migrations, ideally for enterprise clients)
  • High levels of project ownership and individual accountability in a results-oriented environment

Technical Skills/Competencies:

Subject Matter Expertise related to the architecture of complex infrastructure environments, including the deployment of and remediation of such environments. Strong proficiency with ability to provide consulting expertise around each of the following areas:

  • Servers: Windows Server (all versions); virtualization environments; on premise infrastructure
  • Storage + Power: SAN and other storage solutions, as well as knowledge of power requirements/deployments of PDUs, UPS, etc.
  • Active Directory: Provides design, project implementation, and high-level troubleshooting for Active Directory, including Group Policy, Access/Identity Management, Federation Services, Domain Controllers, etc. for medium to enterprise environments. 
  • Networking: Provides architecture, project implementation, and high-level troubleshooting for networking infrastructure, including: Routing, switching, firewalls, WAPs, VPNs, load balancers, etc. in medium to larger LAN/WAN environments, including cloud environments (Azure, Amazon AWS).
  • Exchange/Messaging: Provides implementation, migration, and high-level troubleshooting services for Microsoft Exchange and messaging systems, including Office365.

Other Requirements:

Ability to work a flexible schedule for occasional overnight maintenances, upgrades, etc. For California applicants, a valid CA Drivers’ License and willingness to travel to client sites within the San Diego region is required.
