The Chief Financial Officer will serve as the primary financial officer for Pershing Memorial Hospital and Rural Health Clinics, located in Brookfield, Missouri and Meadville, Missouri. Major responsibilities include developing and maintaining a strategic financial plan and annual operating budgets. Financial analysis of new programs and business development; revenue management; preparation of the financial statements, in accordance with financial management and techniques appropriate to the health care industry; decision support and cost accounting; oversight of disbursements and receivables processes; The Chief Financial Officer reports directly to the CEO.
Duties:
Proactively advise and educate management on all aspects which financially impact hospital operations.
Collaborate with the CEO and governing board to prepare and update long range forecasting for the hospital and its financial network.
Develop and administer the following activities for the Hospital and Clinic:
• Financial reports both internal and external
• Financial policies, procedures and systems
• Reimbursement strategies, reports and appeals, if necessary
• Budgeting systems for both operating and capital budgets (Medicare Cost Report, IRS 990, Annual Audits, Yearly and Monthly Budget)
• Patient financial services, including receivables management
• Disbursements (accounts payable) processing
Provide financial information and consultation to management.
Interpret current financial trends and respond with appropriate action.
Develop strategies to increase cash flow – including improvements in revenue cycle management all with a target of increasing day’s cash on hand, decreasing days in Accounts Receivable.
Negotiate contracts and agreements with third parties.
Lead and facilitate organizational planning for changing reimbursement methodologies.
Lead or facilitate strategies and steps for cost containment within the organization.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting is required.
• Master’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration or certification as a public accountant is preferred.
• Experience in a rural Critical Access Hospital preferred
• Experience with Cerner or MultiView preferred
• Hospital CFO experience preferred
• Knowledge of provider billing practices and understanding of healthcare reimbursement methodologies.
• Job requires the highest level of problem solving. The work requires identifying and resolving very complex problems, such as developing innovative solutions based on extensive cross-functional knowledge of the entire facility.

Company Description:
General John J. Pershing Memorial Hospital, DBA Pershing Health System, is a twenty-five bed Critical Access Hospital. Pershing opened for business as a not-for-profit hospital on January 11, 1960 in Brookfield, Missouri.
To address the community’s need for a larger scope of services, on October of 2008 Pershing invested in a 38,000 square foot addition to the outpatient clinic and included a state of the art Emergency Room, updated Laboratory and Radiology Department. Community Medical Associates was brought into the hospital to provide more convenient access to ancillary departments and outpatient care.
In the autumn of 2012, Pershing added Occupational Therapy to their rehabilitative services department with an Occupational Therapist and a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant.
Pershing Health System provides care for all ages and provides a full range of services from the Clinic, Emergency Department, Outpatient Surgery, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, Radiology and Lab Services.
