Job Description:

BlueWave has an immediate opening for critical leader on the Project Operations team. The Director of Engineering will be responsible for overseeing and managing all engineering staff, consultants and engineering design contracts supporting the optimization, finalization and compliance required to develop, own, build and operate solar PV and BESS projects. 


This position can be remote or hybrid (out of the Boston office).  The  ideal candidate will be able to easily travel to the Northeast.

Requirements

     JOB DUTIES: 

  • Establish and lead the Project Engineering group
  • Establish standards and specifications for   all projects
  • Direct, oversee, and manage all engineering   activity in support of new business development within DG, Community and Grid-Scale   Renewables, starting from input on the initial conceptual design through   entire project life cycle
  • Ensure that all projects incorporate   engineering designs of appropriate quality, completeness, and performance,   ensuring specifically that the asset output, constructability, and   maintainability are appropriately addressed
  • Maintain and implement engineering project   standards
  • Coordinate with the multiple group leads in   Development, Grid Integration as well as Construction and Procurement to   establish criteria for the transition of solar and/or BESS projects to the construction   phase and to the operations phase
  • Coordinate with internal departments and   external consultants and contractors to optimize renewable energy projects
  • Ensure continuous improvement and learning   are integrated with the activities of the team on an ongoing basis by   utilizing relationships, market outreach, and consultant outreach
  • Support Procurement, Interconnection,   Development, and EPC bidding and contracting processes
  • Establish and maintain a process for   transitioning projects from Development to Preconstruction/Construction to   Operational phases while de-risking projects all from an engineering and   technical point of view
  • Lead internal engineering functions   throughout project delivery, including engaging 3rd party consultants
  • Support   development activities of renewable energy projects where needed
  • Ability to work across multiple renewable   technologies (solar, storage, and related alternative technologies )
  • Stay abreast of new project requirements,   industry developments, trends, technologies, etc.
  • Identify, recruit, and manage appropriate   engineering staff as approved in annual business plans and as unexpected   needs arise
  • Participate in the design of business   processes that facilitate engineering design, project delivery, operational   readiness, and ongoing O&M of renewable energy facilities
  • Carry out other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS: 

  •   Bachelor’s Degree in applicable Engineering field required, Master Degree preferred
  • 7-10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including MS Project and MS Excel, Salesforce experience is a plus. 
  • Ability to travel as needed to project sites and to review conditions at those sites.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Valid Driver’s License
