Description

The purpose of the Project Manager of Small Business Lending role is to lead and evaluate the development of new and existing alternative credit products for new and existing markets to widen access to credit for PoC-owned small businesses. To plan, coordinate, design and manage the alternative credit products based on the needs of new place-based markets. This individual will report to the Senior Vice President of Small Business Lending and collaborate with Impact Strategy, External Affairs, Capital Deployment, Legal, Communications and Marketing, Ventures Lending Technologies and external partners. The incumbent will identify, recommend, develop, and ROLE Success Profile implement alternative credit products in alignment with Alliance’s corporate strategy and establish and monitor benchmarks for the effectiveness of the work. Additionally, the Product Manager will represent CDC Small Business Finance, Capital Impact Partners and the Alliance and identify potential partnership and referral opportunities for lending and investments.


  

Essential Responsibilities



Project Review, Design and Implementation (70%)


Manage the implementation of current and future key alternative credit products related to small business finance. Activities include: 


? Evaluation of Activate alternative credit product in Detroit, MI 

? Identify, launch and oversee new alternative credit product development for new place-based markets based on market needs with focus on PoC small business owners 

? Training of Loan Officers on alternate credit products 

? Collaboration with Alliance Impact Strategy, External Affairs, Capital Deployment, Legal, Communications/Marketing, Ventures Lending Technologies teams in support of alternative credit product offerings to align project purpose, objectives and work plan 

? Ensure timely implementation of project activities at all phases 

? Maintain and oversee timely collection of project results and maintain all records of project activities in coordination with partners 

? Support evaluation efforts of projects and utilize results to inform improvements for future projects 

? Support Communications and Marketing team to ensure timely update of program activities, communication material, multimedia activities, press releases, etc. 

? Prepare and deliver project reports to funders and senior management 

? Provide regular updates both verbal and written on project activities 

? Oversee the project budget and annual budget development


Partner development (30%)


? Cultivate and manage relationships with CDFI partners to align project purpose, objectives and work plan in support of alternative credit product offerings and training 

? Coordinate with the Impact Strategy, External Affairs and Capital Deployment teams to inform place based market needs, contribute to place-based strategy, and make loan referrals to the lending and investment teams 

? Identify, cultivate, build and manage relationships with external stakeholders and other community groups to further the reach of the Alliance 

? Facilitate flow of information to key partners with regular meeting arrangements, distribution of meeting minutes and other updates 

? Identify and refer partnership opportunities across the Alliance suite of products and services 

? Using the Catalyzing Finance for Racial Equity (CFRE) framework, build community trust and raise the visibility of community-based strategies to improve equity and well-being 

? Represent the Alliance at community events by sharing PowerPoint presentations, and/or written material

Requirements

? At least 10+ years of professional experience working in community and economic development for individuals, businesses and communities

? A bachelor’s degree is required; a graduate degree in a related field (e.g. business, public policy, urban planning, or community development) is preferred. Relevant experience should be considered in lieu of a degree

? Experience designing, scaling and managing people and capacity building programs 

? Knowledge/experience with small business lending and advisory strongly preferred 

? Knowledge/experience of working in a CDFI or bank, with an understanding of the lending and/or investment process, preferred


This position is covered by a 2-year grant and available so long as there is funding to cover the position.
