Job Description 

  • Oversee and coordinate Fairstead’s compliance with Section 504 and its responsibility to review and approve when appropriate reasonable accommodation requests to housing applicants, residents and members of the public.
  • Provide legal guidance to other departments (property managers, compliance and development).
  • Prepare and maintain accurate and timely reports, records and internal trackers for landlord/tenant litigation.
  • Oversee and manage Fairstead’s language assistance program. 
  • Maintain landlord/tenant counsel databases and provide monthly reporting to senior leadership.
  • Respond to inquiries and assist outside counsel regarding requests related to legal matters. 
  • Maintain a centralized database for leases, forms and other property management documents and review for periodic updates.
  • Respond to requests from outside tenant advocate agencies.
  • Draft correspondence, agreements and other day-to-day documents related to property management.
  • Undertake independent project-based legal work to support the operational needs of the company. 
  • Such other activities that may arise in managing the company’s legal matters.


• Three to eight years of experience in property management and/or residential real estate.

• Understanding through education or practical experience in landlord/tenant, contract and employment law. 

• Ability to multitask and find/implement solutions to issues.

• Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Possess sound independent judgment and common sense. 

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to collaborate with and provide advice / guidance to all levels of the organization.

• Demonstrated flexibility and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and successfully manage work to meet competing deadlines.

• Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.).
