Park and Programming Coordinator
Description

Purpose: 


The Park and Programming Coordinator will assist in ensuring Downtown park spaces are active and inviting through the execution of events and activations. The Coordinator will be responsible for working with the Manager of Community Engagement on activation and event planning in parks and public spaces. Working within parks and public spaces with appropriate DDI staff the coordinator will be interfacing with members of the public frequently. Additionally, the Coordinator will support park rental clients through event permitting, planning, and execution phases

.  

The candidate must have a passion for public events and activations in addition to experience managing large-scale events.  


Park Coordination: 

  • Serve as DDI expert on park facility questions supporting event and activation staff 
  • Conduct weekly audits of DDI-managed parks looking for use patterns, quality of life concerns and opportunities for activation support.  
  • In partnership with the Manager of Public space identify improvement projects within parks and public spaces. 
  • Implement and oversee the installation of seasonal holiday décor within Downtown Parks 
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for park-related questions and concerns, routing questions and concerns to the appropriate people. 
  • Track and manage reporting requirements for Downtown parks to assist in internal and external reporting. 
  • Use daily and historic visitor trend data to inform activation strategies 
  • Maintain inventory counts and condition tracking forms for park furnishings (tables, chairs, foosball, ping pong, etc.) 

Event and Activation Coordination 

  • Serve as the first point of contact for all park rental inquiries and provide permit support to the Manager of Community Engagement. 
  • Liaison with 3rd party rental clients through all phases of the event rental process. This work will include permit support, event setup, and onsite event coordination.  
  • Implement and oversee daily park activations planned in partnership with the Manager of Community Engagement. 
  • Provide planning and logistical support for large DDI produced outdoor events 
  • In partnership with Field Operations Management help ensure DDI Field Operations staff is trained and properly scheduled for event and activation support. 
  • Maintain and distribute park event and activation calendar 
  • In partnership with the Manager of Community Engagement oversee the food truck and park vending program. 
  • Managing, scheduling, onsite coordination, and reporting 
  • Maintain activation assets (lawn games, game carts, board games, etc.). Work daily to ensure assets are in working order, stocked, and distributed throughout Downtown parks spaces with Field Operations staff. Assist in forecasting game replacements and ordering with the Manager of Community Engagement.  

Other tasks 

  • Support volunteer projects managed by DDI staff 
  • First point of contact for groups wanting to volunteer with Downtown Dallas 
  • Serve as onsite DDI staff liaison 
  • Coordinate tools and equipment needed for each project in partnership with DDI Field Operations staff 
Requirements

Education and Experience 


  • Associates degree required; bachelor's degree in related field preferred
  • Minimum of one year of relevant work experience
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • A valid State Driver’s License is preferred
