Description

The Behavioral Health Tech is a professional member of the team who provides support with the treatment of clients who have various mental health concerns and substance abuse disorders.


SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY TO POSITION

  1. Works in a safety-conscious manner which ensure the safe work practices are used in order not to pose a risk to self or in the workplace.
  2. Complies with company policies and procedures, local, state, and federal regulations.
  3. The ability to safely transport clients in various company vehicles.
  4. Conduct 15 minutes headcounts on the clients
  5. Assist with medication observation.
  6. Share pertinent information with treatment team as obtained from client, client’s family members, or significant others.
  7. Participate as a team member in all treatment team meetings and provides input regarding patients’ needs and requirements.
  8. Provide pertinent patient information based on evaluation, and group and individual interactions, to assist in the patient treatment process.
  9. Meets with Director of Operations on a regular basis to assist in identifying and correcting problem areas and or improving services
  10. Effective time management.
  11. Attend monthly staffing meetings.
  12. Document client progress/regression according to established policies and procedures.
  13. Continue with educational courses and in-services training, per policies and procedures.
  14. Update knowledge of community resources on a continuous basis.
  15. Respond effectively to changing situations in the work setting.
  16. Work as a team member, demonstrating maturity under stress and objectivity.
  17. Demonstrate good communication skills.
  18. Perform work duties in a professional manner.
  19. Report abuse of patients’ rights immediately.
  20. Participate in obtaining the patient’s informed consent for procedures, treatments, and research, as appropriate.
  21. Participate in Performance Improvement monitoring and evaluating activities.
  22. Act decisively and effectively in managing staff, patients, and other employees during emergency situation.
  23. Perform other capacities as needed.

RESPONSAIBLE TO: Behavioral Health Technician Supervisor

SUPERVISED BY: Director of Operations

POSITION/INDIVIDUALS SUPERVISED: None

INTERRELATIONSHIPS: Maintains open communication lines with other BHT’s on Shift, BHT Supervisor, Center staff, attending clinicians and physicians.

STATUS: Non-Exempt

WORKPLACE ENVIRONMENT

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  • Position requires work in a temperature controlled environment; 90% of the time spent indoors.
  • Potential exposure to violent situations.
  • No potential exposure to airborne/blood-borne pathogens or other potentially infectious materials.

MACHINES/EQUIPMENT USED: Computer, Telephone System, Fax Machine, Printer/ Scanner

JOB CATEGORY UNIVERSAL PRECAUTIONS: Routine tasks involve no potential exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.

POTENTIAL WORKPLACE VIOLENCE: Medium/High Risk Level

Requirements

1.EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited organization

2.EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of one years’ experience in substance abuse or and a minimum of one year of experience in a partial hospitalization program or other mental health setting.

3.LICENSURE:

RADT Preference

4.SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Ability to work as a team member, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work under stressful conditions and be flexible in relation to department needs.

Knowledge of Joint Commission Standards.

Demonstrates Proficiency in Verbal & Written Communication Skills.

Knowledge of State & Federal Statutes Regarding Patient Confidentiality Laws.

Knowledge of Drug-Free Workplace Policies.

Knowledge of Workplace Violence.

Knowledge of Corporate Integrity & Compliance Program.

Knowledge of current utilized technology.
