The recently merged firms of Laird Norton Wealth Management (based in Seattle) & Wetherby Asset Management (based in San Francisco) are seeking a full-time Operations Specialist to join our team in Seattle. Combined, our organization’s aim is to empower exceptional individuals, families and institutions to achieve their greatest impact through thoughtful wealth planning, investment management, and trust & estate services. 

As the primary operations contact for alternative investment fund managers and administrators, the Operations Specialist will also support other internal departments and work collaboratively within the Operations team to fulfill a variety of operations functions.  

Although specifically responsible for the duties below, the department works as a team, where each member is willing to work on any time sensitive issue that may arise and is cross trained in all duties within the department. 

General Duties 

  • Operations liaison for issues regarding statements, tax documents and other client related issues. 
  • Coordinator for firm’s private investment; working with fund’s administrator, auditors in preparing quarterly statements, client notices, year-end financial statements and tax preparation. 
  • Manages investment requests and prepares subscription documents for client signature. 
  • Prepares and sends paperwork for redemptions, account maintenance, etc. 
  • Maintains records of incoming/outgoing investments, investor changes; notifies appropriate groups for system updates, reviewing records for accuracy. 
  • Coordinates, collects, and delivers necessary documents for client acceptance into funds by applicable due dates. 
  • Follows up with fund managers and administrators regarding client issues. 
  • Assists Operations and Reporting teams in setup of new investments. 
  • Fund Activity: Monitors for new capital call or distribution activity.  Notifies appropriate parties for action items to timely completion.  Reviews and follows up through completion of activity and proper system updates. 
  • Follows up with custodians regarding client issues and investment acceptance. 
  • Procedures: Develops and maintains processes for duties assigned.  Works with Operation leads to improve process and find efficiencies. 

Duties and Responsibilities will increase and vary based on needs of business. 

  • Two or more years of experience in the financial services industry. 
  • Four-year college degree or equivalent work experience.  
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite are required.  
  • Portfolio Management or Portfolio accounting experience preferred.
