Description
General Duties
- Ensure conformance to regulatory, corporate, PrimusGFS, and customer requirements;
- Serve as secondary PrimusGFS practitioner and FDA “PCQI” (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) and review and maintain PrimusGFS systems and food safety plans;
- Coordination of 3rd party audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections;
- Tracking and reporting plant Food Safety & Quality Assurance performance indicators;
- Perform FSQA-related tasks such as GMP audits, facility inspections, internal audits, etc. Report findings and implement corrective actions;
- Execute environmental microbiological sampling program as directed;
- Research and provide guidance on customer complaints and report findings through customer relationship management software;
- Assist with recalls and mock recalls. Serve as secondary recall coordinator;
- Complete administrative tasks as directed by Director of FSQA for multiple Hardie’s sites;
- Partner with operations team to complete production schedule with safe, quality product;
- Ensure that relevant communication processes exist, in order to guarantee a good working climate, teamwork, and efficiency between departments and at all levels of the organization.
Responsibilities
The Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager will work closely with both the Director of FSQA and General Managers of the Dallas and Austin sites. Will be responsible for the completion of FSQA tasks for the Dallas and Austin sites and adherence to related policies, including customer, third-party, and regulatory requirements. Complete administrative tasks assigned by the Director of FSQA for multiple Hardie’s sites. Collaborates with other departments to foster continuous improvement and verifies corrective actions are completed and effective.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in food science, microbiology, chemistry, agribusiness or related field with 5-8 years FSQA experience in the perishable food industry;
- Working knowledge of PrimusGFS or comparable GFSI standard is a must;
- Personal computer skills and related software. Experience with SafetyChain a plus;
- Certifications highly preferred: HACCP, Seafood HACCP, PCQI, internal auditor, food defense;
- Familiar with applicable FDA, USDA, and TDHHS regulations;
- Experience with traceability and mock recalls is highly preferred;
- Must have an excellent verbal and written communications skill set;
- Detail oriented, thorough and can oversee complex issues;
- Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively;
- Ability to influence at a Management Level both internally and externally;
- Ability to lead and influence peer groups internally and externally;
- Ability to work in cold (approximately 40F) environment standing and walking for extended periods of time;
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
