NRF has an excellent opportunity for a senior-level professional to develop strategies and tactics to meet and exceed the needs of a diverse and growing membership through innovative recruitment and retention strategies. Individual will oversee member products, member engagement, strategic partner relationships, annual dues collection and generation, and ensure membership strategies align with NRF’s overall goals and objectives.  


Essential Functions

  • Partner with NRF’s Executive Leadership to determine strategic membership objectives and the investments necessary to achieve those goals
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive annual membership plan designed to recruit, retain, engage and increase market penetration in all member segments
  • Lead the development of policies, programs, products and practices which enhance membership value 
  • Leverage deep industry and public policy knowledge and resources to maximize relationships and engagement opportunities
  • Oversee membership data; create a reliable, up-to-date and thorough database of members and prospective members
  • Engage members and involve them in relevant activities
  • Partner with internal departments to ensure proper alignment of messaging and marketing strategies; develop marketing materials and communications highlighting value and benefits of NRF membership
  • Develop and manage department budget and partner with CFO and other internal leaders to provide comprehensive reporting and metrics
  • Develop, monitor and report on external partnerships that support the NRF’s strategic direction including cross-department thought leadership revenue generation
  • Monitor and continuously enhance membership benefits and dues structures to ensure the highest possible return for membership revenues enterprise-wide
  • Develop relationships with senior executives of member companies, and serve as a primary point of contact for their inquiries and requests
  • Oversee a team of professionals at varying levels and actively invest in team’s performance and guide team’s ability to achieve and exceed stated goals
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements

  

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
  • 10+ years of combined experience in association management, membership and strategic partnerships
  • Comprehensive demonstrable analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills, including the proven ability to plan and execute in a fast-paced environment 
  • Proven track record of successfully leading a team of professionals; fostering strong working relationships; and cultivating an inclusive work environment 
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing solutions and initiatives which directly impact the organization meeting and exceeding revenue generation goals
  • Ability to interpret, analyze, and report statistics and other key data 
  • Exceptional oral and written communications abilities, including a facility for translating complex information for a broad range of audiences
  • Proven ability to effectively and credibly communicate with all external stakeholders, including council members, board members, strategic partners, peer associations, and the media
  • Self-directed, goal-oriented, data-driven and the ability to work collaboratively and productively with colleagues
  • Exceptional knowledge of and experience with association management/membership database  
  • Travel required
