In 1990, a small group of dedicated volunteers with a desire to eliminate substandard housing in our community founded San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity.  Thanks to our supporters, more than 200 local and international families have been able to build or repair their own homes here in Los Angeles’ San Gabriel Valley and beyond. Through the years, we have maintained our unrelenting determination to help families in need by offering a hand up, not a handout. Through donations, shopping at our ReStores, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability, and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves.

Job Summary

Are you a relationship builder extraordinaire?  Have you memorized Dale Carnegie’s How to Win Friends and Influence People?  Do you have a track record of helping corporations and foundations give generously?  If so, this position might be the one for you!  To increase our capacity to help struggling families achieve the housing they need to thrive, we’re on the hunt for a savvy people-person, rock star fundraiser and excellent writer.


If you want to land this job, you must, absolutely must demonstrate the following:

1. Track record of asking for and closing five to six-figure gifts

2. Grow fundraising revenue and be creative and open to new ways to engage new donors  

3. You must be an excellent speaker, communicator and be able to hold comfortable digital and in-person conversations with strangers and speak with ease to large audiences

4. Advanced and exceptional writing skills, editor, and able to quickly craft proposals, engaging pitches, proposals, and e-mails

5. Strong interpersonal skills. Develop strong relationships with a variety of people (including donors) with all types of personalities

6. Software skills. The candidate must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Adobe Suite and Raiser’s Edge - NXT

7. Flexibility, sense of humor and desire to invest in our organization over the long-term


In this new Manager of Philanthropy & Corporate Partnership role, you’ll be our chief relationship builder and fundraiser for corporations and foundations. In the first year, your primary responsibility will be to steward and grow an existing portfolio of about 30 institutional partners while also cultivating 20-30 new corporate donors and ranging in the six - figure range and above.

Upward Reporting Relationship: 

Positions Reports to: Director of Resource Development

Non-Manager

No oversight or accountability for others, an individual contributor

Internal and External 

Has regular contact with departments, employees, and Managers at all levels of the internal organization as well as with External organizations, banks, vendors, and donors

Influence:

May influence the formulation of organizational policy, contractual obligations, and employee morale


Requirements


• Bachelor’s Degree 

• Minimum (5) years’ fundraising experience with corporations and foundations 

• Strong team player

• Attention to detail 

• Self-starter 

• Advanced organizational Skills and able to work in a fast-paced environment 


Essential Job Duties

• Steward and renew our current portfolio while also increasing it each year

• Conduct digital and in-person meetings to cultivate and steward partners

• Create and oversee unique corporate engagement experiences including digital impact days, in-person build days, webinar sponsorship/participation

• Prospect research, relationship building, writing, and compiling proposals, reporting, etc.

• Develop and maintain a formalized timeline for cultivating and stewarding prospective and current donors including calls, visits, lunches, invitations to special events, reports, pitches, updates, etc.

• Oversee data, tracking and reporting outcomes for corporate/foundation portfolio; ensure all donor accounts in Raiser’s Edge are updated and maintained 

• Ensure that each funding partner receives promised marketing/exposure benefits

Working Conditions

Fast paced general office environment. Tasks have fixed deadlines. Requires sitting for extended periods of time, standing, visual acumen, manual dexterity and working with computer keyboards.
