Job Description
The Development Manager works directly with division leadership on the acquisition and execution of projects to meet the strategic objectives of the multi-family team. The Development Manager will ensure a high level of professionalism and foster positive relationships with consultants and clients.
Responsibilities
- Track Multifamily development and investment activity in strategic MSA’s
- Conduct general and specific market/submarket research pertaining to competitive rental properties and investment sales
- Analyze new development sites for acquisition, including market research, supply analysis, demand analysis, job growth and other key economic factors
- Prepare investment committee presentations on potential acquisitions and development projects
- Assist in underwriting of prospective sites for development, including product programming, rental rate analysis, cash flow modeling, and disposition analysis
- Assist in the design, scheduling, and execution of projects
- Prepare market surveys for due diligence by preparing metrics, comparing and analyzing data, and making recommendations
- Manage and monitor the activities of team members hired to perform specific project-related activities including architects, engineers, consultants, and construction professionals
- Monitor and guide project progress with city officials, internal teams, and financing partners
- Prepare monthly project status reports
- Assist in managing and monitoring operating assets to maximize project value
- Prepare and manage disposition data for potential sales of current assets
- Research government regulations pertaining to new development opportunities
- Obtain real property information from public records research
- Assist in creating investment offering packages
- Willing to travel, as needed.

- Bachelor’s degree (emphasis on real estate or construction)
- 7-15 years of Multifamily development related experience (graduate study, internships considered)
- Understanding of real estate and/or financial asset underwriting practices and methods
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret due diligence reports, construction plans, leases, legal documents, financial documents and government regulations
- Working knowledge of ownership rights, interests, property conveyance, title insurance, easements and encumbrances, deed restrictions, eminent domain, and land use regulations
- Working knowledge of the entitlement process including easement issuance or abandonment, utility coordination, zoning changes, and platting
- Experience with project level accounting including budget creation, and job cost reporting
- Experience with property management companies, property owner associations, home owner associations, and municipal utility districts
- Working knowledge of project and time management techniques, methods, and software with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
- Proficiency with PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel Required
